Im in a pinch, ive misplaced my "Gorilla" wheel lock socket and the info to get a replacement!

Does anyone run Gorilla wheel locks on an FD and have the socket that I can borrow plus $$$$$? It looks like a rounded star.

Any help would be appreciated!

 

I have them but you won't be able to use my socket key or anyone elses. They are keyed to your lugs alone.

I *think* they actually use the same key. Might want to call around to some local tire shops, one worth their salt can get a new key.

At Fighters, a customer came in with some sort of aftermarket lug nuts - I THINK they were Gorilla. We dug through the box 'o spare keys and found one that worked perfectly. Ended up just replacing all the lugs with new ones, as he was missing some of the old ones.

If all else fails, there are lug nut removers that bite into the lug nut and remove it, no matter what it is. You'll destroy the lug nuts, but you'll get the job done. You need an impact gun to pull it off, and some care that you don't scratch the wheels.

Close wont cut it. Just brake off the lock and buy a replacement set; a set of 4 is not alot. I just got out of the tire business and unless you are running 4-5 different locks and lugs of all sizes the person will get your rims if they want them.
And if you could find someone who has one that work doesnt make it a good lock if someone else has a match.

 

Easy for you to say I'd love to be able to break the lock off but I'm afraid ill mess up the wheel and my wheels are about $700 each. There is only 1 lock on there per wheel and I'm taking them off so I can try to sell my car with stock wheels. I will not put locking lug nuts on with the stock wheels.

 

Thanks Dale. I figured that each one can't be that different. I wouldnt think Gorilla would make much of a profit if each wheel lock was specially made and each was a different size. Ill check at my local wheel shop to see if they have any spare wheel lock sockets.

 

Wrap the bitch with one of those thick Ziploc freezer bags. No worries.

 

The wheel locks would be completely worthless if it's that easy. I don't know about "Gorilla" brand, but others usually have around a few dozen different locks in circulation. That's why you need the code to order a replacement.

 

Just get a socket that just fits and get a good weighted hammer.

 

After hours of searching I found the damn key!! Problem solved.

 

well, that was anti-climactic.

 

You may want to consider keeping it in the car next time in the event you need to change a flat on the road.
