So most of you guys probably know I do LED and '99 spec conversions.
Well I was working on a set of tails today and when I opened them they had these weird inserts. They are solid colors like USDM lights, but for some reason they have raised circles like '99 spec lights.
I've converted about 50+ sets of USDM lights and I've never seen one with inserts like this before.
Any ideas? Euro model maybe?

both of my tail lights are like this. I'm assuming they were replaced at some point, but do not know for sure. I think I brought it up in one of the threads talking about the measurements for the circles to do the conversion. I'd be interested to know if those circles are in fact the exact placement of the 96+ spec circles.

I don't think any US FD's shipped from the factory with those tails. I believe that, as time went on, Mazda stopped making the "flat" taillights since they went to the round style in '96 in Japan. If the car had the taillights replaced, like maybe after a rear-ender or something, the new lights from Mazda would have had the raised circles.
Makes sense to me.
