Yeah, if you can control the speed, and thus the flow rate of the pump, then you would be free of having pump speed proportional to engine speed. Then you could set a fixed speed or a narrower band of variable speeds so that you get higher flow than the mechanical pump at low engine speeds (good for the Evans NPG users?), and never go into cavitation at higher engine speeds (good for track junkies). Unfortunately, I don't have experience with electric pumps, or with how to calculate what flow rate(s) you would want for any given situation...

This is something I'm really interested in. Would it also be possible to leave an electric pump running for a short amount of time after shut down to keep things circulating and reduce heat soak? I also saw a company selling em but never heard of anyone doing it.
