anyone make a water spray kit for intercoolers?
I know nitrous xpress makes an Ntercooler kit which sprays nitrous on the IC but i'm looking for something along the lines of what a stock STI has for their intercooler. Anyone know who makes such a kit?

If you really want to spray your intercooler just modify your windshield sprayer.
Seriously though, what you want is water injection and not an intercooler sprayer.

I beg to differ
As for spraying the intercooler with H20 not doing anything = wrong. As a Saturday project this spring I made an intercooler spray kit with a universal washer pump, radiator overflow tank, silicone hose and Home Depot spray nozzels. I aimed 4 of them at my RE V-Mount intercooler. Driving on mountain roads ie extended boosting up 3k+ elevation changes normally drove my intake temps from the low 30s C into the 50s. A 10 sec squirt of water results in a 10 deg C drop in intake temps within 1 minute (temps and times taken from Power FC commander and my watch). I am very satisfied with those results, especially because it cost me under $50 and a couple hours. The only addition I am going to make to my system is a check valve so it doesnt drip.

to all those spraying water on their intercooler, make sure to be aware that when your spraying water anywhere, you are also probally leaking it from under your car. under hard cornering, a bit of water will make you slip... if your going fast, you could probally put your car in to a ditch/wall/another car/what ever so be very careful please

If your going to spend all the time to set it up you might as well hook it up to a hobbs switch set at a certain psi of boost and spray it in your intake system (probably around the elbow). Your going to get MUCH better use out of a kit doing that.

as far as hooking it up to a switch do a google search for intercooler spray controller. there is a company in australia that makes an intelligent controller and has numerous articles on why a boost switch doesnt make sense. The jist is that the IC works as a heatsink by storing heat then tranfering it to the outiside air passing through. Short busts at high boost do not raise intake temps significantly because by the time the hot air has a chance to heat up the IC the boost event is over. The water sprayer will be running regularly if you set it for a boost level and you will quicky exhaust your supply. If you want to chill for short busts, pre boost CO2/NO2 IC spray, a bigger IC or more airflow are the options. The IC water spray works by evaporation so airflow is required. I rigged my spray to mist on the IC and added a fan to pull air through while sitting in traffic. I have it on a manual switch and trigger it when my temps rise or I expect them to (about to boost for longer than 5-8 seconds) The spray has proven to drop temps faster after boosting and sitting in traffic based on what I see on my PFC Commander. jeez that took longer than I expected

This is a pretty good write up on how to do this cheaply. I have lots of pictures, but not sure how to post them.
I have not tested that it works as good as one of the above posts, and the fish tank one way valve does not work well to stop the siphon effect. I think the HELP checkvalves may work better, I just have not switched yet.
Anyways, it makes me feel a little better when I spray it.
The Aquamist water injection system is much more complex, but may help in higher boost applications.
Good luck

Ok, i didn't bring up this thread or topic hoping to get horsepower out of spraying water. I mean to use it to lower my air intake temperatures from my SMIC especially during heat soak. I used to spray my IC with water between runs on the track or drag strip to lower the air intake temperatures faster and am trying to find a way to do it so that I don't have to pop open the hood all the time or spray while I'm driving.
