Anyone know the weight of our sound deadner?
What sound deadener? I can hear every knock rattle and shake in our cars.
I don't think the sound padding stuff is all that heavy in our cars, would be too much trouble to remove with very little benefit in weight reduction.

I was actually thinking about the padding underneath the rugging....
Maybe i'll just have to cut out a 6 inch swaure foot section and weigh it and then estimate the total weight...

We really don't have that TAR stuff deadner most cars have. Ours is part of the rugging. My rugging (touring) has a few layers of rubber and foam crap attached to the rug, but it can be easily removed. I know there is more foam like stuff behind the rear side panels. Total weight seems to possible be around 15-20lbs for all the foam stuff maybe.
Oh, our stock seats weigh 38lbs

Yeah but remember....26lbs here.....30lbs there....another 30lbs there.........13lbs around the other place.... and it all adds up
Removing any interior on a FD that is driven on the street is a waste of time and a good car.
FD seats weigh 23lbs each, carpet is around 25-30lbs (as stated previously). The rest of the interior, bins, door panels, headliner, rear carpet, 1/4 covers, etc probably doesn't weigh another 50lbs. So for a total weight savings of 125lbs you can ride in a car that is so loud and uncomfortable (no seats in that 125lbs savings) that it is miserable to drive.
Smart wieght savings for a street car might be the deletion of the airbag system, stereo (speakers are heavy too), spare, jack, power antenna, rear wiper, etc. Still leave in all the interior, heater and a/c and you'll save ~50lbs.
There is tar type sound deadener in a FD, I've got two 94's right now with the interior out. It is very thin and placed in a few areas, I'd guess you'd save a max of 15-20lbs chisling that stuff off. Again, not really worth it on a street car.
Mod the car for how your going to drive it, your driving on the street, keep it a street car

I have found that some cars have the tar stuff sound deadener and some dont, Mines and my brother's don't (base models) but my touring has it as well as a bunch of other fd guys I know of (these are base models, tourings and R1's).
Tried to edit but it was too late.
I just weighed a stock seat, 33 lbs with the rails. My 23lb weight listed is incorrect.
Skunks, take a pic of the hatch area of your car with the hatch carpet lifted up. I'd like to see what it looks like.

For light Weight Material Checkout Vibramat
Hello,
Check out the latest offering from Vibramat. I'm getting them installed as soon as my 7 is out. Checked out a couple of sound and heat insulation products and i must say Vibramat a very much lighter and absorbs heat better. I had some installed before around the gas and clutch pedal area and my feet don't heat up anymore. Check them out. Ask Karen Seally from exciters.com and tell them Dev from D.A.G referred ya.

the yamaguchi book says the seats weigh 38lbs. Oh well
The FD is NOT my daily driver. Noise has never bothered me. Besdies, if I wanted a quiet car, I probably wouldn't be on this forum
Eventually, I'd like to start racing the FD at the Homestead track down here. Nothing professional. Just have pure fun
I'm still in the middle of deciding how crazy do I really want to go with the FD. I'm at the point where I sometimes wish I just should have gotten an R1. When I got the FD, I thought I was just going to leave it stock
I think I'm going to end up leaving it border line race status. I want to leave some of the options on it, but will end up deleting stuff like the cruise control, rear wiper, etc. The tools in the rear of the car can always stay at home when I go racing.
