Title. Not sure if it came on JDM models, but I'm tired of occasionally getting shocked getting out of my car. Would be very keen on retrofitting this on my car if I can find the components.

Are you talking about the ground pad that's in the door pull cup? Mazda discontinued that part ages ago since they boogered up the design and they would all break.

That's the exact one I'm looking for, I'm tired of getting shocked when I exit the car and put my hand on the handle. Does anyone have an image or an idea of what its made of? Reproduction might be possible.

The 93's and some '94's had a rubber covered metal pad in the door pull cup. It was plastic welded in and had a ground strap going to the screw that holds that cup into the door.

They ALL broke. The plastic welds weren't beefy enough and that little pad would break inwards.

There is a company that makes aluminum replacements for the door pull cups, replaces the whole OEM plastic part with aluminum. They are SUPER SUPER nice and make your door feel like a bank vault when you close it. Since it's aluminum it may serve the same purpose since that would conduct an electrical charge.

it came with this thing, but you want one of the early numbers which have been NLA for ~20 years?

I might have gotten myself confused. Wasn't there one for the exterior door handle? I remember viewing something awhile back in the FSM that referenced it.

It is listed in the JDM version 6 (2001-2002) shop options brochure as C902-V0-970. The part number comes up for multiple models (including the current JDM Atenza) and appears to still be available in Japan.

It's a little bit different from what you have described. It installs onto the door trim. Here is a translation of the brochure description:

Just touch the plate lightly
Release from unpleasant static electricity
It is an item that can be used. Front door
Can only be installed.

This is it:

If it's listed in the 01-02 catalogue, then that might not be the one I'm referring to. I swear I saw the one I'm thinking of in a FSM for a 1993 model, and I think it was meant to keep you from getting shocked when you touch the outer handle.

It's not listed in the parts catalogue as it's not a standard part. It was a dealer option listed in the Japanese Mazda accessories brochure for 01-02 rx7s.

Noted. I suppose at this point I'm back to trying to figure out exactly what component came on the car from the factory, is it the door cup that prevents the static shock on the exterior handle? etc.
