I have been looking for one also. Maybe there is enough interest in these to get a GB going, because I have read on here many times people looking for them.

I know there are fairly easy ways to mount a generic solenoid, but I really want one that was designed for the door and will have no issues and run reliably for years to come.

I've been desperately trying to find one for a few months now. I actually got the power door lock actuator from a JDM car - just the motor itself. I found out that it WILL NOT work on the USDM driver's side door latch - it looks like it would work, but you'd have to remove part of the bracket for the door latch that's critical to the operation of the latch. In other words, you'd need the whole latch assembly.

The thing that's killing me is there has to be TONS of used JDM passenger door latches with ZERO value in Japan. There HAS to be a way to get someone to hit up some junkyards, rotary shops, SOMETHING. It's not that hard to pull the assembly out of the door either - if you know what you're doing, it's 15-20 minutes tops.

I'll look around - I think someone listed a part number at one point.

Dale

I also wonder if it needs its own relay box or if the drivers side one is enough or what?...I haven't looked at the wiring so I don't know!

Booyah - check this thread out:

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...jdm+power+lock

And in particular:

You can buy the door lock complete with the solenoid directly from Japan, mazda part number F123-58-310C at about USD100. This is for RHD vehicle though. You can order from www.perfectrun.com.au or www.japanparts.com
See what you can do with that, Neo!

It will definitely need a control system - you'd have to get a keyless entry system, and that should come with the necessary relays and whatnot. The motor is the tricky part of the process - everything else is pretty straightforward. Gets more complicated if you want a full security system along with keyless entry.

$100 for brand new part is not bad. I wonder my contact over there can get the used part. He's kind of busy. You know the Japanese rush everything. But I will try.

Awesome - keep me posted! I ended up hacking my USDM door latch in an attempt to get the JDM lock motor to work....long story short I have no power locks and the security system acts weird now . I'm holding off on a short-term fix for the long-term plan - keyless entry!

Thanks!

I know CF some like it some don’t, if used sparingly it can look good IMO. And in this scenario I don’t know how I could shave the columns and mask it any better than this without extensive effort. Yes I do have a secondary entry strategy in place.

Count me in if it is OK for me to ride your guys wave
I know of no one other than Jason and now he is gone

BTW, that part number is incorrect. It's the right side for part number, not the left side

Probably just need to change the letter on the end of the part number and that should be the other side - I know that's how the door handles are done. I believe the door handles are A-D, with 2 letters being USDM left/right and 2 letters being JDM left/right.

I would try "D".

I can get them for $125 shipped + paypal fee. Jack
This is what I used on my car for keyless entry without fear of damaging the door mechanicals.

LOL I'm checking for availabillity now and will have to redo a write up as all the notes i had were on the old hard drive that blew a seal and died. I've got (or had) a small video clip of the necessary modifacations to use with our cars. Jack

Hey cantgostraight, thanks for any help you can supply in finding the necessary parts for this modification.

Several people on here have done this mod. You can buy cheaper door lock actuators all day long but they just don't seem to have the capability to not destroy the mechanics of the door locks and opening mechanisim. Will keep you guys posted ? ? ?

I'll be documenting the installation of this sucker as well - I'm going for a pretty slick install. Still gotta find a keyless entry system that I'm happy with .

Dale why don't you get the viper 791 that comes with the two way remote. I've had this unit since it came out and it has saved my car twice
