Anyone hear of "collapsing mufflers"?

Guys, just wondering whether it was possible for mufflers to go bad...to clog up the system enough that it would create major back pressure...

mufflers can go bad, but i'm not sure if the one on a third gen can. i know that some mufflers have a "deadening" material in them though.
