Anyone have STRI gauges?

I'm looking at buying some new gauges and STRI gauges caught my eye since they match our stock gauges. You can chose a white face gauge with amber lighting or a black face gauge with amber lighting. Theyre Japanese and are pretty cheap price-wise compared to other Japanese gauges. Another cool thing about them is that you can chose metric or imperial units on all gauges. Unlike other gauges, you dont need a control unit to run them. They work independently from one another.

Any of you guys running them?

I've been seriously looking at these gauges too. Plus they dont carry the heavy price tag like the rest.

nice find, I'm always looking for a 52mm gauge that matches the stock ones (black background, white lettering, red pointer that extends through the center pivot, ability to see the gauge face when off, amber back light, chrome trim ring)

I found these recently but ordering from overseas has stopped me from buying them

The new Greddy V.2 looks pretty close to stock.

I was looking at the Greddy gauges but I want all my gauges to be in imperial units. I've had metric gauges before and while it was cool and JDM tyt3, having gauges in Fahrenheit and PSI is a whole lot easier to understand. At least for us westerners

For those interested in the Greddy gauges pictured above, the boost gauge is the only one available in imperial units (PSI in this case) and its only available in mechanical form, not electric. The rest of their gauges are metric.

I want an electric boost gauge to avoid running a long vacuum line into the cabin. This may not be a big deal to some but routing wires into the cabin is much easier to me than a bigger hose. Phase2Motortrend (linked above) is a few minutes away from me. I'm going to give them a call to see if I can stop by and take a look at the STRI gauges. I'll be sure to report back once I see them.

In the meantime, check out my experience with ProSport gauges:

HKS DB meter RS are the closest thing to stock I've seen in a while. They only come in 60mm and you need a control unit to operate them.

I found this on ebay:

is the trim around the gauge a bronze color on the black faced ones, or is it really silver but the lighting makes it look bronze?

The one pictured has a titanium surround while their lower end gauges (X-Line) have a silver surround.

Really? Hmm... the websites I saw it on all said it was mechanical. I figured this was true since I had a similar one (black face, green lights) that was mechanical. But looking at Greddy's website you are correct. They list both mechanical and electric versions. Thanks for the heads up

I have the Defi BF gauges in Amber red (blood red color) which are electronic. However, if I went another route...the Garrett turbo gauges (mechanic) are nice and stock-looking too:

i got an STRi mecha boost gauge for my FC, it is high quality and costs only $65.

I got the 60mm amber one:

If you want to mount this close to you, like on the steering wheel pod, etc, then get the 52mm smaller one. I feel like this one is a bit too big for where I wanted to mount it.

Also, the smoke face gauges light up bright when your illumination is OFF, and dim when you turn it on, so you can still see through the smoked ones during the day w/o a problem. I didn't know this and got a clear one... lol.

false. i got the fuel pressure gauge and it came with the sender... yours doesnt have the sender because its a mechanical boost gauge and runs off vaccum..... theres no need for a sender (mechanical)... as for the other gauges im not sure if they come with senders but i dont see why they wouldnt... i got a sender with my fuel pressure gauge and its from their lowest series"x-line" so i dont see why not!

ps these gauges rock, no complaints.... i had defi racer blues a few years back and i cant complain with my stri gauges!

I have the Defi BF's. I like them. I'll probably switch to SPA duals when I hit the lotto.

i really want the stri gauges, but i found a problem... first, heres what i want, inexpensive good looking accurate reliable gauges with a clear gauge face (not smoked), black dial, amber led and the silver outter ring. i need boost, oil pressure, oil temp and water temp.

sounds like i should just get the x-line right? well the x-line only offers a 0-100 psi oil pressure gauge, not high enough for our cars... hmm, ok, the dsd series offers a 0-150 psi oil pressure gauge! so just get a dsd oil pressure gauge right? well no, they dont have clear black face amber led gauges, only smoke face amber led and white face amber led... the smoked face gauges also have a titanium color outter ring, so even if i say ok, the smoke face isnt so bad and picked up smoke face x-line gauges (boost, oil and water temp) and one smoke face (oil pressure) gauge, then the outter rings wouldnt match...

did i miss something somewhere or something? i hope so, i really want a set of these...
