In the top left corner by the ABS, there should be a big blue plug. Put it underneath that.

Yes, that's a good spot for the stepping motor, but the Profec unit can be mounted on the driver kick panel, in the glove box, or on top of the steering column like I did, and you can still read the guages.

I mounted the head unit in the crotch vent under the steering column. I simply removed the adjustable grill part and the controller fit in there perfectly. It's out of the way and is easy to get to. I plan to add the steering wheel switch a bit later so it doesn't matter to me that I can't see the unit itself in it's current location while I'm driving.

I unfortuantly got it in blue. It looks ok except once the lights come on, it lights up kinda pinkish.

Sucks to have to pay 10 bucks more for a non-glowing black one to match the dash. Can't post a pic because "bandwidth has been exceeded" for me.
