Anyone have the OEM carbon fiber hood?

When I called Mazda a while back to see if all of the recalls were completed on my FD, the rep mentioned something about a recall on carbon fiber hoods. The rep also mentioned there were very few installed.

Can anyone verify this?

So it was a dealer option supplied by Mazdaspeed? I'm paging thru the '93 brochure and don't see it listed anywhere. Was this only avaliable for the '95.

do you have a link that shows a pic of one?

I also got that letter, and it WAS the Mazdaspeed CF vented hood. Funny thing is I have NEVER seen or heard of anyone with one....

Maybe we were all supposed to get that hood :p

I've seen that hood in real life before. It's pretty damn awesome!!! It's light, it looks really damn cool, and oh man, I don't know, It's just so damn nice. The recall was just for a fix on the latch. You just bring it to a shop and then that's it. Yes it was the Mazdaspeed hood.

That is by far the best hood for an FD. It has been wind tunnel tested and came out in 1998 on the 15th anniversary kit by Mazdaspeed. The dealers never sold the hoods, but they are available through Mazda competition parts. Jason can get them as well, but you all might want to wait for the replica put out by Atihun, check the 1st post on the 3rd gen section for details.

Yeah, Atihun and I are doing the replica

We're still waiting on getting the latches and brackets from the stock hood to put on the replica, because we don't want any problems with the attachment points. They should look awesome when finished, the thread with more info is in the 3rd gen forum...
