Anyone have level 10 Shiftronic for their Auto?

I came across this when looking for stuff for my Auto tansmission. I was wondering if anyone here has used it or knows anything about it. I would especially be interested in any pics of it installed. I would like to see if this a decent alternative to a 5 sp conversion since its only around 500 bucks. Thanks for any help.

there was a fellow on here named Matt (Spigot) who bought the "shiftronic" and posted pictures of it. It looked like a POS and Matt wrote a very negative review of it. He was going to re-engineer it, possibly to something like f1 shifter paddles, but I guess he never got around to it. In his opinion, and he had me convinced, it was a total waste of money.

umm you already have a shiftronic.its called the hold button.
other than that its either a 5 speed swap or a higher stall torque converter.but seriously from what other mod can you go from a 14.7 quarter mile to a 13.5 quarter mile other than a 5 speed swap? As soon as I can afford it this will be my next mod.The auto is convenient but ultimatly too sluggish in response.especially off the line.

I was kinda hoping it was a push button or paddle shifter type thing.

Good luck finding one of those. Yes, the auto is a dog off the line but if you wanted hole-shot acceleration you shouldn't have bought an auto. However if you want something that builds boost very quickly and can hold it between gears and ultimately is a killer street machine then you bought a fine car. The only reason the auto does terrible in the quarter is the torque converter needing to lock up and bring the power to the wheels.

A good solution generally is to put in a sharper final drive gear and upgrade from the stock 3.90 (maybe 3.93) to the 4.100 of the 5 speed or even a 4.333. Also if you have excess amounts of cash (I don't) a higher stall speed torque converter.

there is almost no benefit performance wise with a torque converter on a street car. Stock stall is 3000, I have a 3500 level ten TC. I'm not sure how much difference 500 rpm makes. Any higher than 3500 is not streetable, so I've been told. I mostly got it to make the tranny more "bulletproof" and so far it's holding its own against a single turbo. I think the rear end swap is probably the best bang for the buck, besides a 5 speed conversion.

I'm really looking for away to be able to downshift my tranny before I floor it on the freeway so that I don't have towait for it to downshift. Would a 5 sp dif throw off the mph, odometer, or anything like that? Also would it bring the top speed down noticable?

yes the speedo will be off a little bit...yes in theory top speed is reduced, but not in practice...this has been discussed ad nauseum and with a simple search you will find exact speeds given for the different gear ratios, plus calcs of how far the speedo will be off, etc.

dude, get an an aftermarket shift kit, and brake boost the **** out of it.... best way to get more power out of an auto.. and roll the car, dont go out the hole, anywayz going out the hole puts more stess and damage on your car than rolling...

I got a picture of the unit from Spigot. It looks ghetto as hell. Just a box with a toggle switch for power and then four push buttons. One for each gear. I guess that scraps that idea. Thanks for all the posts. If anyone wants a pic of the unit I can email it to you.

it depends what your going for. granted with 3.90 gears yeah you can do 180 miles an hour but think of it this way. when in gods name are you going to need to go that fast. if you switch to 4.33 your top speed should be reduced to 160ish. maybe alittle lower but your 1/4 mile times will be a lot faster. and dont let anyone tell you the autos are slow if you have a rolling start your just as fast as the manuals. plus just buy a tranny brake like pinser55 said. the hardest problem i have ran into is an ecu for the car. i need a ecu i have searched " you can use the ppower fc" no one has yet to tell me how to hook the thing up to make it work. there is also a buddy club racing spec b ecu. it has almost the same features of a power fc but is for a auto tranny and you can control the shift points. make a hell of a difference. only problem dont know anyone with it to find out any problems i might run into. anyway i have said way to much probably . hope i helped and if anyone knows about the ecu issue give me a pm or resond here. thanks
