anyone ever used one of these pulley kits?

Like the titlesays, has anyone ever used one of these pulley kits? apparantly the Greddy one is discontinued, or majorly backordered. i know ebay stuff is sometimes junk when it comes to turbos, etc, but anyone have any experience with these? thanks for the input.

I have that kit (not blue, but silver) and have installed another kit. They fit well, look good, and work well.

It's a shame that the best kit is the Ebay one . The Greddy kit really isn't that great and is TERRIBLY overpriced.

Thanks for the input Dale! I do like that it is cheaper than the Greddy kit by a few bucks, and actually has more pulleys too, and it works out great, since the Greddy one is so backordered, or whatever.

Touge factory is good stuff. A lot of their branded products are made in Taiwan vs China and the Quality Control is a little better coming from Taiwan.

I have the same pulley set in silver minus the crank pulley. Worth the money in my opinion.

I'm running the same ones in purple. Although I couldn't tell you the belt number, because I'm running the pineapple racing pulley as well.

Keep in kind, that pulley kit does not eliminate the smog pump, the main is underdrive, the rest are stock diameter. It will require an additional idler for installation without the smog pump.

That Greddy pulley kit is not discontinued or backordered, we have them in stock. These can be installed without and idler, but we still recommend it to help reduce bearing wear.

I don't recall your company offering an Idler so what idler kit do you recommend for your customers?

AFAIK for aftermarket idler pulleys Pineapple Racing is currently the only game in town.

For those who've deleted p/s and a/c, that main underdrive isn't ideal because it's one piece (vs the OEM two-piece design).

I knew about the pineapple kit, I was wondering if there were other options. Are the any JDM companies that make an idler kit? If not then what do they do instead?

We do not offer one, we point people to the PR idler when asked. We have installed 30-40 of them and have not had any issues.

As previously mentioned, neither of the other two sources are currently producing them. And neither are authorized vendors here. It's a long shot, but you could google for a contact and see if they happen to have one left.

I have no problem with pineapple racing. I just recently registered my car as a classic vehicle so no more smog for me. I would like to remove my smog pump so I am just wondering what options are currently out there. Thanks for the posts guys.

I have the tweakit kit as well. Aside from appearance, is there a performance benefit that's noticeable?

Slide ways FD - did you have to change any belt sizes?

I'm sorry for bring this back from the grave, but was wondering if anyone knew what belt numbers to get for the Touge Factory pulley set. I have ordered a set, but I can't seem to find anything that mentions what belts to use. I'd like to avoid play the back and forth game to the auto parts store till I get the correct belts.

Would probably help if specify which, if any idler pulley's you have. Or if you still have the air pump. FWIW I use the stock belts with the Garfinkle idler.

I am actually still running the air pump. Is it recommended to remove it?

With the AP you can run stock belts. The main pulley is slightly undersized, so you may have to take up a little more slack, either at the AP adjustment or tensioner.

No. IMHO you should only remove the AP if you're on an aftermarket ECU. And IMO, only if properly removing all other emissions... i.e. block-off plates, unneeded solenoids, adding a hi-flow or delete the cat etc. Since there's no real performance gains and some risk of consequences, leave it otherwise.

Just as a heads up, my car won't pass smog at this point. I have a full turbo back on there eliminating both cats, I have a stock ECU for the moment, working on getting a PFC.

Running a catless exhaust on the stock ECU can be hazardous. Read "boost creep" in the FAQ stickys.
And why did you bump two threads with the same question? You got pretty-much the same answer.

They were so old, I wasn't sure which would get me a response.

I understand creep, I dont intend to drive it until I get my pfc and have the car tuned. I am currently replacing lines and hoses, since it seems the car was not well maint. By one of the previous owners.
