Guys it's not the ports or the stationary gears. Look at this pic. It's to add strength to the whole assembly. Also you need the extra metal so that the tension bolds will have something to fasten too from both sides so the center intermediate section doesn't produce stress cracks. 20b's use 2 sets of tension bolts. Long 13b style in the back and stort ones in the front.

Who knows though....maybe this is why Ralph decided to leave and start his own tuning shop back up.

I don't know, that could be, but the dealership was on the same land lot that Ralph's shop was on and Ralph was telling me about fixing the electricals on the car, and those were the things that were the worst. I guess maybe he maybe he did get tired of the dealerdhip owner's policies on repairing cars. I was just trying to warn people about a couple of bad experiences with them. How much business have you guys done with them? Have they done good work? I'd love it if that was just an extreme irregularity in thier quality, Ralph seemed like a great guy and I'd love to business with him if it was.

Good to know, thanks, do you have any pics of that thicker plate? At different angles to show how the gear is attached?

Thanks

The pic above has the web page that I got the pics from. FYI the thick center plate has one stationary gear for the center rotor. The front plate has a stationary gear from the front rotor. So like I said before, the center plate is only thicker for strength/support reasons...not because of the stationary gears or ports.

www.Alamorotary.com also has some pics!

Understood, but still was trying to figure out how it was attached.

I still want to know flow rates and how much (if at all) it is off an improvement of the RE manifold.

Does anyone have Ralph's new business number? I'm going to use him to tune my FD.

Thanks.

I agree that part of the problem with the rear rotor getting more air is the manner that it exits the elbo. The air gets split into the front/rear runners shortly after it exits the elbo, and the air is compessing itself up against the firewall side of the intake going through that turn. Opening up airflow to the front rotor will make the air want to go there instead of the rear. I do believe that more needs to be done other than just opening up the LIM to correct this. I would think it must be done all the way through the engine.

Has anyone cut the stock manifold in half to port it out and then welded it back together?

From the pictures posted earlier they don't look much bigger than the stock ports. Meaning nowhere near the size of the RE manifold.

hmm that kinda sucks..makes me wanna keep my re engine and make a manifold like that...will the re manifold bolt up to the fd? i know the ports are different in size on the engine..but thats something that can be ported when the engine is getting rebuilt..what you think?

The runners on the RE manifold are huge! You would want to use some Cosmo irons or port match FD housings. You would also need to make an adapter as the RE manifold is an inch or so shorter. You would want to use a FD throttle body as it's a little larger and has the TPS where you need it. If you don't make an adapter for the manifold/throttle body, you wouldn't clear the oil filler tube, would have to change intercooler piping and modify the throttle cable.

I called KDR to ask them what they thought about the RE manifold and interestingly enough they recommended this one instead and told me they are going to be using it on their project car.

I'm still waiting for flow numbers, dyno numbers and pictures.
