Anyone else had RC 1300CC injectors stick open?

These are modified stock secondaries.

I am wondering who else has had these fail and what the failure mode was.

Mine have been in for ages also. However, I watched as a friend installed his RC, freshly bored out, injectors and had one get stuck open. He got them working and everything was OK but definitely made for an "oh ****" moment.

Check this post I quoted from Wade:

https://www.rx7club.com/showpost.php...43&postcount=7

What you can try is taking 12v to the injectors. If you don't hear them clicking, try tapping them with hammer and then something which won't damage them, but something that you can set on top of the injector to bump with a rubber mallet. Then test them again with 12v and see if they start clicking.

Very interesting linked post, but I want to add, in my experience the reason exceeding a certain % duty cycle is bad is because injectors flow fuel with a curve from the minimum controllable amount, to the maximum controllable amount.

Ive seen this curve graphed before in tests and the curve isn't linear.

It reaches 99% of flow before it reaches 99% duty cycle, the set I saw a test for had 99% of the fuel flow (99% of the flow possible with injectors simply locked open) when they where at 91% duty cycle.

Well, Wade had probably done the most fuel system testing on the FD up until a few years ago. I'm sure some of the guys like Kan and Ihor have done more now, but Wade was the only one publishing his data.

Anyway, as he mentioned, bored injectors do fail sometimes. This is why a lot of people opt for 1600's instead.

I'll probably put in a set of 1680's I have laying around, that would be the cheapest option.

Wade mentions people making 400 WHP on stock injector in his post, I don't buy that unless the fuel pressure is bumped up allot from stock. I'm sure 4 stock secondaries running 55-60 psi base pressure with a very good pump would do 400 WHP.

There were a lot of things people were doing with this car before 2000 that people today cannot believe. IMO, those guys were a lot bolder than today's crowd.

I just played around with one of those injector calculators, assuming a .62 BSFC which is what I have seen quoted you could make just about 490 FW if you utterly maxed the injectors running 15PSI boost assuming the pump keeps up, and about 440 FW (enough to exceed 400 WHP) at 90 percent of the stock injector flow.

Now that I'm looking at some of this I may take a different approach, my current power goals could be met either with just 2 1680s in the primary position with no secondary injectors or 4 stock secondaries.

A haltech E8 will control 1680's just fine in the primaries.
