well i transfered from Sasebo last year ( a BU1 with the Seabees ) and i can also say that there is a lot of money involved in bringing your FD to japan. It isnt worth all the trouble and money. While i was there i owned a R33 type M, a R32 GTR, and a FD3S, (and a Nissan Sunny, he he) .....and honestly, i would say that I would drive my FD over the skylines anyday!! Dont get me wrong, i loved my skylines....but the FD just felt better, looked sexier and drove sweet!!

I still have my FD in Sasebo....actually, its in Fukuoka (about an hour away) and i was hoping on going back and getting a civilian job in Public Works but that did not go through..... so my car is for sale. If interested, go talk to Public Works Facilites and ask for a guy named Yoshii. He works upstairs across from the Fire Department. Tell him Selvera-san said he is selling his car. Ill sell it for 5,000. There is nothing wrong with the car and drives great. She is fast too, well Im sure you know. Plus, a great chance to buy some JDM parts, sport the FD, and then take them off and bring them home when you are done, he he.

I know he has been taking car of my car and would not be surprised if he added a little something to it, he he. He is cool like that.

As fas as bringing back an skyline or FD or supra or whatever, i called around many times and kept being told it is not possible. well it is if you have like 80,000. the FD is on the list on NHTSA website but a few registered importers said that it needs to say RHD (like the R33 Skyline says), if not then it is not eligible for import (legally). Trust me, i tried and tried, and nothing. so i came back home and bought and FD here.....he he.

Either way, good luck, im sure you will love Sasebo, just get out and enjoy it, dont be crazy like all those other retards that go to Saki or Sailor town and cause trouble.

Let me know if you are interested in my FD and ill call my guy and let him know to bring the car to Sasebo.

Anyway even if I could take my FD I dont think it would be worth it.

We should link up when we get over there. They might be parts in your area I may want n vise versa.
Uwan I spoke with my detailer again today & he said he will include the funding for shipping my POV he also told me it wasnt worth it.

Im currently stationed @ RTC Great Lakes @ The Gun Range. We Definately gotta hook up in Japan keep in touch.

I have a friend that came back from Atsugi about 2 years ago. He took a Corvette (2004 Z06) and sold it for a good chunk of cash. Bought a Skyline GTR(R33) took the motor out and sent it home as parts with his house hold goods paid by the Navy. He is in Florida now driving his Skyline as a kit car. I would do the same thing with a later model FD.
AO1 I'm definately leaving the FD behind now & i'm looking to purchase American muscle to hustle in Japan. If you here of a sailor who stripped a Spirit R on base & shipped it state side it was'nt me lol.

Drakujr Your FD looks good PM all the details yr, mods, I'll be there in the May/June 2011 time frame so let me know whats up. Also you need to drop some names of people to meet, places to go for cars, & parts. I'm sure this will help people that visit the Motherland.

For anyone interested in info for importing cars stateside heres a link courtesy of Drakujr...
