ABS warning light won't go out
here's what I've done so far:
replaced the pump (mine was leaking anyway)
checked all 4 wheel sensors at the ABS computer so the wiring is good, all were about 1059ohms
run all the checks in the FSM that I can do without the special tool mazda uses, these are
ABS system ground, all good
ABS diode, fine
front and rear valves, fine
the wheel speed sensors, again, fine
pump motor, fine
both relays, fine
the light will never go out, even if I just start the car and sit the light stays on, all I can think now is to replace the computer, like my thread below it has a blinking red light on and I don't know what that means. because the light doesn't go out then come on when I move all I can think is something is failing in the self test.
any ideas?

the ABS control unit, the module in the hatch, on the side that faces out is a tiny little porthole, inside that porthole is a light mounted to the circuit board, when the key is on it flashes one flash, repeatedly, I can't really take a pic of it.
it's depicted in the drawing of the controller in the FSM but not labled or explained, weird.

Is it possibly supposed to be blinking like that?
I'd say if you've run diagnostics on everything and it all checks out, and the car itself is not acting funny (you haven't mentioned any oddities with the ABS system itself) what is there to worry about? For all I know it could be blinking to let you know it's working a-ok .

I got one for $1500 new from Ray last week. In my opinion it's not something you want to bargain shop used for. Better to bite the bullet now and not have to worry about it for another 15 years.

that's a pretty colossal waste of money considering the brakes work fine w/o ABS.

because I'm not down with wasting money by taking it to a dealer
while you're at it replace the lines, all the crush washers, the anchors, the wiring, and anything else that is 15 years old.
You made the original post sound like it's some serious safety hazard to have the abs pump fail when it is hardly that.
But thanks for your eversovalueable input.
kthxbye.

Hold on....you said your pump was leaking and now you're replacing it with a pump that you have no clue what the history was other than it looks new and you paid $60 for it. If having a part of your braking system leaking fluid isn't a safety hazard, then I'm not sure what is. Second, you said your "brakes work fine without ABS". If that's the case, then I think it's a "colossal" waste of time and money to try to fix something that you don't care doesn't work. If you're not open to opinions, then you probably shouldn't post on this board. Don't worry kid, I won't muck up your thread anymore with my opinions.
