Any tricks for getting cruise control cable clip off?

Is it just me or is this thing one of the most retarded changes between the FC and the FD? I searched, and everyone says that they use their fingers to get the bottom tabs and a screwdrive to get the top tabs, but I don't have 4 hands so I can't depress all 4 tabs at the same time...are there any tricks I missed in my search?

Thats pretty much the way I've done it. Except I push in the top tabs and angle the clip so the tabs move into the bracket so theyre depressed by the bracket while I push in the bottom clips. It sounds confusing but I cant think of a way to explain it better right now. I agree its a pain in the *** and I hate removing that piece. My fingers feel like crap afterwards.

there is only 2 clips if you look close, one faces down and the other faces upward. put one finger under the clip and squeeze until you feel the cable and connector rock away from the bracket then use a small flat tip screwdriver to depress the top clip and use your thumb to sort of pull the cable out and away from the bracket. it is much easier to do if you have the cable off the throttle linkage also.

i normally use a pair of long needle nose pliers, works much easier but this method works too with some practice.

my procedure was:

1. Apply screwdriver to clip.
2. Apply hammer to screw driver.
3. Repeat.
4. Curse.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 as necessary.

My trick is like wan said: I press one pair of tabs, and tilt the piece in the bracket so the tabs can't push out. Then press the other tabs and pull it all through. It takes a couple of tries and the right pliers help.

If you are removing your UIM or your engine for that matter, you can disconnect the cable from the throttle body, and that will prove to be much easier. no pain in the *** clips.

I use an adjustable wrench to compress the tabs. Adjust it to the right size, slide it on from the "cable" end and it pops right out.
