It doesn't matter if you have a high dollar Optima or Cheap autozone battery. If you've got a hatch car, then you need it in a sealed container (Not a Bass Boat Box).

The only way you can have a Optima Battery mounted openly is if you've got a trunk or rear firewall.

Yes, I've got a battery kill switch mounted directly in the middle of my license plate.......

I have the summit battery relocation kit in the back of mine just under the strut tower bar. It is tight but it will still fit a full size battery.

Why didn't you face the cables the other way so it won't get caught by anything in the hatch?

^My thoughts too unless it's a straight-line car like LUPE's. And those boat boxes wouldn't be too crash worthy. In a front end collision of any magnitude, that battery will end up weighing about 400 lbs. with alot of momentum. Just a thought.
