Any one using a cool collar?

Any one using the cool collar on there oil filter, its like a heat sink that you wrap around the oil filter. On the Porsche forum they claimed a 5-10F drop in oil temp.Just wondering if its just BS.

Would it even work on ours? I would assume their filters probably get a better flow of air.

Go to wwwjcwhitney.com find cooling systems than go to oil coolers you will see it listed. The smaller collar is for oil filters that are at least 3 in dia the FD oil filter is like 2 1/2 but there shouldnt be a problem cutting it to make it fit.

I imagine it wouldn't work well if the oil temperature was nearly the same as your under-hood temperature.

Here is a tech link pelicanparts.com/techarticles/cool_collar they explain test done with the cool collar.I would think it should drop temps , engine compartment temps are cooler than oil temps.
