Any one running REC apex seals?

Just curious as the REC seal is what I plan on using. Before they go in I would love to hear some feedback if anyone runs them. The coating on them seems pretty slick ( no idea of these coatings ever last). I am too scare to run the stock seals currently.... I never hear of anyone speaking of them.

I know they are a quality shop but I don't know much about their seals at all.

Stock apex seals are good for stock or near-stock cars. Any modified car should be running an aftermarket seal IMHO.

RXParts has a fantastic apex seal and they've been proven over and over again, that's a great way to go. I'm also a fan of the new I-Rotary apex seal, it's developed by Francesco Ianetti who developed the ceramic apex seals.

Thanks Dale. this is one of those threads that after I hit send I was like "hmmmm probably should not have done that". I don't hear the name much so I thought I would ask. As for the stock seals, I would love to run them. I would have loved just to put the motor straight into the car and plug everything up. After spending the $$ on brand new twins the last thing I want it to throw a piece of seal through them.

I've personally broken my fair share of stock apex seals, so I know where you are coming from.

I've got the REC seals in my motor. I ran a higher premix ratio to ensure they were well lubricated.

Sadly that motor died in 2013 after about 3k-4k miles due to no fault of the seals. My FD went on mothballs at that point and both seals and rotor housings looked good.

I'm on the process of putting the FD back on the road now, but it's a SUPER involved build and I'm not likely to be done before early/mid-summer.

Sorry to hear that. Are you going to use them in this next build? Were the housings new in the last motor? Also, are you going to have a build thread?

**** happens, it died because a poorly designed kit caused my oil tstat to vibrate loose and trash a brand new motor.

Yes, I've reused them since they weren't really worn.

Yeah, everything on that engine was brand new. At the time it was the last brand new 13B-rew in the country, I had picked it up from Malloy Mazda and only broke it open for porting and internal pimping.

I'm on the fence about making a build thread. The motor is done already, I rebuilt that a few years ago. The rest of the car is being addressed by a shop. I'll definitely be posting about it on the FB rx7 tech pages though
