"If it is still on Im wondering how hard it would be to blue backgrounds with red backlight thats what i really want to match the rest of my car."

im working on a solution to linearizing the gauges... there are methods out there but the problem is that each gauge may need individual calibration which wouldnt be the best for a mass produced kit..... but im on it.

as far as other colors and lighting, at this point it is not feesable. im not even sure if there are enough people "on-board" for it to be possible to make the sets. i will keep everyone updated, but the bottom line is the fewer people that want this, the less of a chance it will happen. im talking with the manufacturer now about design/layout but if people want the linear temp gauge mod it will take extra time.

REsearch people, REsearch.

I posted the technical details of the series-8 (99-02) dash install some months ago for all you series-6 (92-95) owners.

Basically, you are going to find the S-8 dash goes straight into your S-6. However your boost gauge will not work & the speedo + tacho wont work.

The reasons are different pin outs between the S-8 & S-6 plugs.

You have remove an earth coming from the plug to get the speedo+tacho going, then you have to re-route wiring from the Map sensor to make the boost gauge to work. Then you have to modify the pin out to get the oil switch light to work the S-8 oil pressure light.

Quite a bit of mucking around & not for the faint hearted at first.

Easy for me as I have done several & am an electronics tech plus have the S-6 (92-95) + S-7 (96-98) + S-8 (99-02) wiring diagrams to cheat from.

As for the MPH conversion. Never needed to go back to the 19th century for speed readings so am unsure on how that part can be done.

Well, the problem with the real 99spec gauges is the 180KPH limit and all the extra wiring. A good idea might be to find some way of getting real 99spec gauges and making a wiring harness kit simliar to the radio headunit harness kits. Also, linearizeing the temp gauge would be great. It's not that hard for an individual car but for multiple it may be a problem. I can probably get mine done... (Not good with wiring)

i'd take a set of spirit-r replica gauges, but to cover the american gauges in standard units. if that can be done, count me in for a set

DMRH: please read the thread... were not talking about the ACTUAL 99 gauges.... im making gauge FACES for our gauges that we have now.

to clear things up:
~ the new faces will make your existing gauges look like a 99 gauge set (color, font, and tach starts a 6 oclock) but....
~ we will have MPH (and possibly kph in the midle like our gauges now)
~we will keep our oil pressure gauge
~if i can make a simple kit... we will have a linear temp gauge conversion included and numbers (degrees) on the face

DOH!!

Sorry, just spotted the reference to the S-8 gauges, white faced dails etc. Happens when you speed read & mix the gaps with present knowledge. It can sometimes bring you to a wrong conclusion.

I'll just shut up now..........

Also any chance of you making replacement heater control faces so our cars wouldnt be half black half white. i would def buy them for the right price if it was a full kit

Also, it would be nice to add another 20mph to the guage, topping off at 200

im not sure how far this is going to get... i talked to the manufacturer and i need to have 100 units made minimum. unfortunately it doesnt look like there is enough unified interest for me to put up that much money as of now. i will keep looking for a company that will do a smaller run but a large run probably will not happen.
