Any feedback on DIN panel gauge pod -vs- center speaker pods?

There was a thread where I posted links for the radio DIN triple gauge pod holder and I can't find it. It was something like "what's the best center panel gauge pod" or soemthing like that. Does anyone have that link? I wanted to order one of the metal radio DIN panel holders (have a plastic one) but i'm still debating using a quad pod on the center channel. Has anyone actually tried both of these styles??

If you have tried both kinds then please post feedback. I may end up getting both kinds and 6 or 7 gauges but just can't decide. I know a few people had problems with the dual pod being too thin and melting from the heat. I couldn't find anyone posting problems with the tripple or quad pods except that it could be tilted hogher up. Does everyone have that problem or just very tall people?

Three main gauges I want are: Boost, Water & oil temp. Others i'm debating the need for are: air/fuel, fuel pressure and I could do two exhaust temps (1 for each rotor housing).

I have tried three kinds. The Tri-power two gauge pod, Flyrx7's three gauge pod and a DIN three gauge panel. The only method that aims the gauges correctly is the Tri-power pod. That being said, I eventually went with a three gauge DIN mount with the radio moved to the lower slot and the gauges in the upper location.

The upper DIN location will aim the gauges up at your chest, Fly's pod will aim the gauges down at your chest. The Tri-power has an upward angle to it that more closely aligns with your line of site. The problem with the Tri-power is that it only holds two gauges and is not very robust. IMHO, the Tri-power also looks the worst from an aesthetic standpoint.

I went with Defi Link-meter gauges that I changed the backlight color on. These have a peak hold feature and programmable alarm setpoint. With these features, I didn't think gauge alignment was critical. I also like the clean appearance of these gauges in the DIN panel.

How are you guys holding the DIN plate in? Seems like most people use molding tape. I wanted to use clips or something less permanent, but got lazy and used molding tape.

I used this DIN plate: http://www.thompson-automotive.com/c...11/2029659.htm

It has clips and snaps into place, fits perfect.

I have Flyrx7's tripple pod, and a single on the a pillar for boost. (tripple has water temp, oil pressure and EGT) it works great.

Here's mine with the Thompson DIN mount.
Black face, white letters, red pointers and chrome rings.

The choice really comes down to what looks good to you. If you want to keep a stock look, use the din panel. If you want your car to look more like a race car, place the gauges somewhere else.

Regarding angles of view, it doesn't matter if they point exactly directly at the drivers eyes. You will be able to read them easily unless they point at the passenger.

My car has a 3 gauge din panel, with VDO gauges: Boost, water temp, and oil temp. The gauges look much like stock, are good quality, and were not expensive. My setup looks almost exactly like the picture above, except that there are no chrome rings on mine.

Here's the link to my gauge writeup which is in the stickies somewhere too...

The panel I got was the miata one and it fits perfectly. What I like the most is that it has locking tabs on both sides (no 2side tape) so it can be removed and reinstalled as needed.
