Electrical issue - wont start. Any ideas?

My FD has developed an electrical problem. It wont fire the starter.

I had installed a push button start years ago so I removed that to take it out of the equation. I also removed every electrical connection I have added to the car (gauges, boost control, fuel relays, stereo, wideband, etc) as well as removing the dash and entire interior and any uneeded fuses in the engine bay. I have also checked all the fuses in drivers kick panel.

When undoing the push button I got to a point where the wire in the ignition harness that goes to the starter was just hanging there exposed so I ran a line directly from the battery to it and the starter kicks right over so I know the starter and battery are fine.

However when I turn the key to "On" and touch the same battery line to the starter ignition harness nothing happens. All the accessories light up and everything powers up in On. When I turn the key to start nothing happens. I hear a relay type noise in the drivers side kick panel that I dont normally hear. And I hear a relay noise in engine bay Im not sure if it is normal or not.

I think that I have something grounded somewhere or possibly I have a bad relay but dont have a clue where to start.

Thanks in advance for anyone who takes the time to think about it.

So if you pull the black spade connector off the 'S' terminal of the starter, turn the key to 'on' and then hit the 'S' terminal with a wire run directly from the battery it won't turn over and start?

just run continutity checks and you'll find your problem, i'm sure it's just a bad connection or maybe relay

Battery and Starter/Solenoid has been ruled-out by direct connecting, that's a good thing.

If your Engine doesn't crank while in factory configuration, it may be the Ignition Switch and/or the Clutch Switch ~ Neutral Safety Switch.

For now, you may have to back to Push Button Start.
