Another "What's next?" thread

Alright I have the following on my '94 R2:

Pettit upgraded ECU
Greddy SMIC
Greddy water temp gauge
Greddy Boost Gage
Greddy polished intake piping
Greddy BOV type S
RE amemiya intake with polished aluminum pipes
HKS Carbon Fiber Ti exhaust
Greddy turbo timer
Apexi AVC-R Boost controller
M2 Downpipe
Midpipe
Optima 51R Yellow top
Koyo Radiator
Gothom Racing Short Shifter
Upgraded AST
Brembo Drilled & sloted rotors
Efini Y-Pipe
Silicone hose job
Silicone couplers

Im not too sure what to do next My plans are as follows:

Greddy pully kit
Nippon Denso fuel pump
850cc primary or 1200cc secondaries

Im not sure what order to put these things on at and if I am missing anything else. I plan on doing each 1 at a time and about 1 month apart from each mod.

Oh, and BTW I am already planning the purchase of the Apexi PFC and going to single turbo. Anyone have any (CONSTRUCTIVE) recommendations, comments, or tips?

Do the pulley kit, then do the pump and injectors so you can crank up the boost.

Going single turbo, eh? How about some wider wheels and rubber for better traction?

Oh wheels are are on my list. I'm just waiting to get hooked up on them. I'm gonna go either 285 or 275 in the rear.

well its pointless to get injectors until after you get the pfc since the pettit ecu doesnt support them.

Id suggest the greddy pulley kit right away and a stong fuel pump such as the supra which will be good to ~415rwhp.

then get the pfc datalogit and commander
then youll have to decide what type of injectors
its a really hard and important choice

your car should be really fast as is right now though. Mid 12s no problem.

About traction. who needs rims to get traction. Run some nitto555s on the street like me. your car will handle much better and youll hardly ever spin unless you have 400rw or more which is a negative on the pettit ecu

When should I start to consider getting colder plugs?
I am still running 7's and 9's NGK should. When do I switch to all 9's?

Thanks surge. That make complete sense. I would have wasted time and cash if I wen through on my plans. You're also right about tires. If I dont get my wheels as planned I will just go with tires. But its the point if I can get the rims I want. If I can get the package deal then I might as well not waste money now on good tires.

Id do it now
I always ran 9s since I got the midpipe and of course now with the single

car's a little rougher when you first start it, it will run harsh for about 5-10 min. you lose a few hp too but its worth it to maximize your "safety zone"

Id suggest some magnecore 10mm plug wires as well

Doh, forgot to metion I already got the magnecore's a while ago. =)

I don't know if the 9's ane NECESSARY though. I'm not too convinced. I'll prob. give John from Mazdatrix a call and see what he thinks. I agree it will increase my safety zone but am I in danger now?

I also want to mention that I already upgraded my ground wires too.

NEW QUESTION...............

What boost is safe for me. I have set my controller to 12 PSI. I figure thats the safest for my since I live in CA and I can only get **** gas @ the reg. pumps. Is that safe, too safe, or not safe at all? I want to go up to 15 PSI but I dont know if thats a good idea with 91octane. I may just have to wait until trake dates and get race fuel. Any comments on this?

nothing is NECESSARY but you have an engine in your car that is shorter in length than my foot. Its a ticking timebomb in a box shape and you are pumping a lot of hp out of it compared to stock about 100rwhp more! Id go with all 9s its the same price and losing 1rwhp shouldnt hurt your feelings much. I've talked to Cam at Pettit about his ecu. You can not run above 12psi on 93 octane is what he told me. So at 12psi on 91 you are at the highest you want to have it. If you run 15psi I guarantee youll surpass 100% duty on your injectors with those mods. Id go to 13.5 with racegas MAX.

someone else chime in if you think I'm wrong....

Wow surge good points!!!

You definitely put some new thoughts in my head. I'm gonna have to replan my mods for the future. I know I have some other concerns but I cant think of it now. Getting kinda tired. I'll try and remember so I can post the tomorrow @ work.

Thanks again surge!!!! Anyone else, I could use some more suggestions, idea's or thoughts! If we can get some more opinions and ideas, I think this would be a good thread to refer people to who are asking about getting more HP and what to get. Ill post tomorrow what order I did things so far.

Light flywheel. That will help acceleration. More HP to the wheels, and less to turn the flywheel.

Thats true. I'll have to do the when I go to change out the clutch (soon).

How much HP/torque can the stock clutch handle?

Not much... mine went out @ 80k w/ 3-325 hp.... similar mods... You seem to be pointed in the right direction... I would run all 9's and go and add a qt. of tolulene to the tank.... about 45 bucks from sherman williams... make sure you tell them your using in your car... this will give a couple of more points to your octane rating=safer. 9's all around is the way to go... as you get more power you want that number to go up... I'm on 11's all around, but I'm over 400hp.
I know when I did the greddy pully I had problems w/ power output i.e. the alt was turning too slow. So I just put a 4 rib 300 belt on instead w/ stock pullies...
As for a clutch upgrade... I went w/ a SR flywheel b/c the wearplate is replaceable for 100 bucks so once its warn you can switch the disk and the plate for about 200 and still use your PP for even longer... Having done this upgrade... I would also replace your pilot & throwout bearing, also clutch fork if goinig w/ a heavy pressureplate if your miles are above 60k... mine went out and that is a real pain in the *** if you don't do it at the same time. also how many miles...?
bushing replacement will tighten up the suspension...
regular oil change, change tranny fluid
Something like this...

I do all my maintenance on a reg basis. In fact I just changed my fuel filter yesterday. All fluids changed on schedual

Thanks for the tips I'll look for the tolulene.

Has anyone else had problems with the Greddy pulley kit? What went wrong? The accessories did not work properly?
