Another steam clean thread

I steam cleaned my engine for the first time today. I used the UIM nipples, 1 rotor at a time, 1 gallon of distilled water for each rotor.

My car took a **** haha:

Her treat was a nice new oil filter and Mobil 1 and then a quick highway pull on the new rims, tires, and undertray. Maybe now I can go a month without dumping more cash into her haha.

I always use Mobil 1 synthetic, 10w30. I haven't noticed a difference yet, as i didn't want to beat on it until i changed the oil. I just filled it up. I was worried about my compression (hot start issues and down on power), i haven't done a compression test yet (coming soon), but I'm trying a bunch of little things like this to see what happens (i'm secretly hoping i had a stuck seal and this just released it haha but I doubt it).

The rear is up because i haven't pulled the fenders yet and its on a soft setting so the wheel travels a bit. So I'm just leaving it raised up for now until I pull the fenders. I'm debating on whether or not to do that this summer, I've heard if you really pull them then you'll most likely need to repaint it (and even though I have a heat gun, its my first time so I'm far from a pro), I'd rather just enjoy it for the rest of the summer and save it for a winter project. In person it doesn't look that bad, more of a C6 vette stance with some rake.

I did not use nearly as much water as you but I don't think I had a single drop on the ground.

That seems like a huge spray, what RPM were you at?

I didn't have any drops either, very very little visible steam. I only did about 3/4 of a gallon. The lower the revs the better it will vacuum the water.

Isn't the whole purpose to get steam? Mine drank the water down just fine at 2500 rpm.

I didn't notice a difference. I just figured I'd give it a shot. I've always run meth injection on this motor so it shouldn't be that dirty anyways.

I have a full 3" exhaust, greddy t78 kit downpipe, pfs midpipe (borla resonator), and HKS catback system.

You can do the same thing with seafoam. Pull the revs up a bit and pour it in slow at first then speed up till your start choking the engine. Quickly turn it off and let it sit for 10min. then start it up and give it a couple revs.

When you do it like that it will smoke like no other. However I'v had much better results with seafoam than water.
