Another one bites the dust...

Heres another problem I'm having that just started this morning... I went to go to take my car for a little spin.... and what do you know.... the car wont start. Last night i tried adjusting the idle and the wrench hit the alternator grounding nut so sparks flew everywhere and 2 of them cought my finger... 3 mins later i went to start the car to see if it started and it did. now this morning when i try to start it... the engine turns and RIGHT when its about to start it just dies out... the temperature outside is about 50. iv started it in colder weather and it started fine. My battery is just about dead. i even recharged the battery but that didnt work. my cattery/grounding cables are kinda in bad shape. any suggestions???

Fix those, and carefully check the battery terminals.

Short clip so I'm not sure.

If the battery is low and you try and start it but it doesn't start it'll lead to flooding. Fix the cables, get a good battery and then see if it'll fire up.

If not do a search on flooding.

Sounds like it's your battery. Try jump starting it, if that doesn't work I say it's most likely flooded from trying to turn it over so many times.

Bring the battery to an autostore for a free diagnostic test(they'll charge it for free as part of the test). Although that may not explain the spark, which i've seen but the car still started

im almost sure that its the battery. the batter may have enough power to turn on the lights and **** like that not but enough to start the car. so im getting one of those Optima red tops, redo my battery cables, and tighten my belt (itsp retty loose) that is preventing my alternator form charging. what do you guys think? i hope i didnt flood it. if i did, will it be a bitch to 'unflood' it? i did some research on flooding but nothing explained how to 'unflood' it

For some reason I don't think this thread deserves "Another one bites the dust" as a subject title.

I was expecting a read about a wreck or at least a blown motor...yet you just have a battery problem?

LOL JP

Yeah, I suggest hooking it up to another running vehicle with jumper cables then try to crank it. If it starts drive it for a bit, give it some time to charge up.

Dude, give us an update here. Go to the parts store and buy a new battery, or atleast jump start that one. I don't know about you, but I can't sleep or do anything else if I can't figured out what's wrong with my car.

If your making a big stink of this small problem i suggest doing as much research as possible about matinence/upkeep to prevent problems. As there is a good chance you'll have many. Know to car inside and out...

i jsut got the car on DEC 22nd. im fixing all of the problems before i register it ETC. i got the car for 10,800. it had some minor problems which the guy couldnt fix himself which is why he let it go so cheap. the car ran amazing before these problems occured. this is my baby and my dream car and will be my baby forever, thats why im trying to get all of this **** fixed and learn more things about the car while im at it. i was never into cars so thats why i dont know much about them, but iv always had a fetish for FD's ever since i saw my cousins fd when he got it brand spanking new in 1992. im currently 17 so u do the math

Get a new battery first... You knew the battery was bad, you didn't do anything about it, and now it's quite possibly the cause of your problem. Stop avoiding it.

I bet it's flooded. When was the last time the spark plugs were changed? I know you just got it, but when did the previous owner change them. Get back to the parts store and buy some spark plugs
