sorry to say it but aftermarket parts on the car do not raise the value of the car in the event of a crash or even resale. if you want that money back, remove the parts and sell them individually. As it sits i would be hesitant to give more than 6k for the car total. Cause it is totalled. Yes anything cnm be repaired. But the facts are it is technically totalled. And the aftyermarket parts were your"choice" to put on. The stock parts were still available to put on the car. That will be the insurance's point of viem at least IMO.

Sorry to make light, but it reminded me of a post from a year ago and it still has me busting up laughing...

JONSKI: It's true. I was checking out deerclub.com and someone was bitching about an RX-7 right in his path. He tried to swerve, but it was too late.

Jonski - you are famous!

Apparently you now have to register on the site, but it turned into a 2 page thread. Original post is below.

Hey, I'm at work on a Saturday doing jack ****. Yes, I'm bored.

The following was a post on rx7club.com made by clint034

"F**cking deer hit the FD

I have only had the car for 2 weeks.. the damn thing had never been in an accident before. I was driving to school doing about 40 in this big turn on a 2 lane road. The side of the road is all grew up and you cannot see very well. Anyways.. next thing I know the damn doe deer runs right into my front left fender. Big *** dent with creases. What does everyone recommend me doing to fix this.. replace that panel of the car? will colors match? etc. thanks."

Here is a followup reply to his original post in response to the question posed by T88NosRx7 - "are you sure the car didn't hit the deer?"

"No the car did not hit the deer. I was driving along and saw something out of the corner of my eye and a split second later it all happened. The dent is on the side of the car so yeah the deer hit the car."

This was a man name Jonski's reply:

"It's true. I was checking out deerclub.com and someone was bitching about an RX-7 right in his path. He tried to swerve, but it was too late."

I haven't laughed so ******* hard in a looooong time.

If you can't tell from the pcicture, maybe you should look for another celica, especially since you want a daily driver ( one that is reliable). It's obviously a 3rd gen, since you did happen to find it in a 3rd gen thread.

And to add a little bit more, his signature was this:

93 Black R1
Pettit Unlimited ECU
B&M shortshifter
Koyo radiator
Boost + A/F Gauges
Greddy Profec B Spec 2 Boost Controller
APEXi intake
3" Midpipe + Downpipe
Racing Beat Catback

So it's a 93. And he ALSO said his fd, in a third gen post, so you do the math mr. caps lock.

Damn that looks nasty. I wish that wildlife weren't so dangerous. Here in Ridgefield Ct. the deer situation is getting way out of hand, so much so they have extended hunting seasons for the last 3 years. Whenever I am out driving at night and I see orangish/green dots up ahead I slow down. The reflection of deer eyes has saved me so many times.

In response to the person mentioning a deer jumping over them. I had a similar experience riding in the passenger seat of a friend's car. We were driving back from a movie and it was dark outside. The car was an old Buick town car, one of the long honkers like a lesabre or something I don't remember the name. We are coming down the backroads towards my house when all of the sudden I just see this flash of brown color in front of my face, it goes RIGHT over the hood. While this is happening, a late model Suburban is coming in the opposite direction. Right after it passes I go "OH MY GOSH! DID YOU SEE THAT HUGE SHOPPING BAG!?" As I am saying this I hear the NASTIEST crunching smashing noise ever. My friend says "That wasn't a ******* shopping bag you retard!, it was a goddamned deer!!" I look back and the Suburban has stopped on the side of the road, the headlights are pointing all crooked and there is a BIG MESS on it's front grill hood and windshield. On the ground there is an EVEN BIGGER MESS. This deer hurtled over our 5 ft long hood like some sort of olympian and got clipped mid-landing by this suburban who was probably going 50mph. We pulled over and by the time we were out of our car and I was dialing 911, we could already see the people in the Chevy were fine, well it would be better to say that we could hear they were fine. "HOLY ******* ****!" "HOLY MOTHERFUCKING ****! WHAT THE ****!!?" This guy's friend gets out of the passenger seat and goes something to the effect of "Well Frank, well......I don't know, but holy ****, you just tore that deer a new one" We asked them if they were alright and when they said yeah, and were in generally good spirits, we left them telling them the police would be there soon. It was insane to say the least. I still bless my lucky stars we weren't 3 seconds ahead in terms of time otherwise I would've had a nice case of HIFS (hoof-in-face-syndrome)

Oh well. That is my story and it doesn't have any nice little wrap up. Sucks to hear about your car though Zero. Good luck on getting it replaced.

I'm not too sure that is a good idea in a sports car. Hitting that deer in a sports car will more than likely invite him to come visit you in the driver seat after he goes through the windshield. It won't be a pleasent visit.

Edit: I think this may be a 50/50 issue. If it is a big deer, I would definetly try to avoid. If it is relatively small, drive through. Of course, no one really has time to analyse and act. Just react.

I've noticed it, and I've always wonder what a vert on the wrong side would look like. I have never seen that, but the thought of it does help me keep the speed down a bit.

I believe Mazda's figures for the FC convertibles structural integrity were within 99% of the Coupe models when the roof was up. Some sort of integrated roll cage that was developed to make sure it would sustain a roll-over similarly to it's regular hard top counterpart in the case a roll-over did occur. As to with the top down. I think that is just one of the sacrifices you make in order to attain: driving with the wind in your face and the open sky above your head .

Yes, I know all this information. In fact the windshield frame on the vert is supposed to be reinforced a bit.

I just have never seen pics. That is what I am curious to see.

ive settled with the insurance, they totaled the car and i am buying it back.

i will sell the car whole to someone if they wish to fix it, if no one's interested, im parting it out on here.

motor and turbos have ~18k on them. koyo radiator was installed for 1 week, doesnt appear to be damaged.

i live near roanoke virginia if anyone's interested in picking up the entire car.

You know it will be cheaper for you to fix the FD than it is to buy another one?
