the problem is the wheel hop, some guys said that an alignment helped them get rid of wheel hop, if you get that done you'll be in the 13's, maybe high 12's

You are now just running around stock numbers or a little worse. With the streetport and dp you should be well into the 13's. Do you know what boost you are running at?? Maybe just a little more practice at the strip will get your numbers down. Good luck.

your car with those mods should be much faster than that... even with the wheel hop you should be in the 13's. Hows your boost after the transition?

Get some more practice launching, and your times will get better, and shift at the shift buzzer. No later. On street tires i run about 18psi for my best 60ft times.

With your combo you should have the hp to run around a 13.3-.4.

No, just goes to show that drag racing isn't as easy as everyone seems to think it is...

I've got a 13.6@101.96....but still not a 13.5. One major factor is weather conditions. A slight head wind, or a little to hot at the track, heat soak, etc. all make a difference.

I've heard rumors that someone ran a 13.3xx@103 on the big list, but i don't know if its true or not.

those numbers were made in 93-94 ish while the cars were still new. add 9 to 7 years on a cars engine (well, scratch that since most FDs are not running their original engine anyways), transmission, and suspension make it more and more difficult to reach stock numbers, even with modifications.

yeah drag racing isnt as easy as it look

i launched at a 3k clutch dump, got wheel hop all thought first

assuming my car is running in the condition it should be then i am running 10 psi, but i go no boost guage yet :o ,so i do not know for sure, so 10 or less

but i've also been told PIR sucks for traction, pp13bnos can vouch for me on that, i might have to take a trip down to woodburn and see if i can break 13s

oh by the way my 14.2 was good enough to smoke a Mustang SVT Cobra, and oh yeah it felt good

Because stock 3rd gen. RX-7s run 13.9-14.0 on average, not 13.5. I'd bet you can count the number of people who have run 13.5 or better stock on both hands, and probably on one.

Anyone managing a 13.5 (or better) stock has a factory freak (more than average horsepower) or is running drag radials or slicks, and has plenty of passes under his (or her) belt. Most people run 14.0 (or worse) with their stock cars, however. I've even seen several 300+ RWHP cars fail to break 13.5 on radials. 13.6 @ 117.4 mph, in one case.

Kevin Wyum ran a 13.2 @ 103 mph with his '93 R1 while it was stock, but knowing Kevin, I assume he was on slicks. He was also very, very good at drag racing. First RX-7 into the 10s on the stock twins and the stock engine back in '96.
