Exclamation Amazing Idea!!!

ok....so there i was...talking on the phone telling my friend about how my car wont start, and he jokingly says...."you need a block heater man" and i laughed....then i gave it second thought. that is NOT a bad idea. Diesel trucks have them so they don't get so much wear and tear during warm up, and so it doesn't take forever. My friends dad backs his truck into the driveway in the cold weather and just plugs it in to the outlet outside of the garage. I would roll my car into the driveway and plug it into an extension cord! Really though...since all of us have problems with cold starts...and flooding....and the wear during that period....why doesn't someone come out with one of these, besides the fact that it might be a fire hazard i think its ingenious....anyone agree?!

my fault mike, didn't know that, thank god im not the first one to have thought of that....now do those things work good, anyone on the forum have one? do you personally know anyone. I would like to invest in one....it would be sort of a reliability mod. I've just never heard of anyone using one on a daily driven sports car.
thanks man

Canadian ones all have them. Candaian ones all also have the rear defrost wires that not all U.S. cars don't. Now if I only did't misplace the silly cord that connects to the engine and extension cord I'd be in good shape.

Bought my FD in Houston and moved to Canada for 2 years. Kept flooding out. Dealer installed the engine heater, about $150 is my best guess. I now live in Cincy, and though the car is in a garage, I still plug it in when the temp gets to about 20F. I was told that the heater should be plugged in at least 4 to 6 hours (or overnight for me). Suggest you contact a Mazda dealer in Canada to get the parts and installation instructions, then install here. It works great.
