I can appreciate the fact that some of you want to defend your friend Rob but fact is I'm out of pocket over $4800 (actually in debt with interest building), a usable core, and well over 60 hours of labor R&R'ing three junk motors from Pineapple. Go look at the pictures on the other forum and explain where this is right or just in any way shape or form.
Rob agreed to a refund but refuses to put it in writing even when the writing says "refund contingent upon tear down and inspection". Nothing but pure BS and run around is all I ever got after pouring coolant in the filler neck and have it pour out the exhaust (go look at the pictures and check out how the "expert" fixed or shall I "tried to fix" it).
Go look and explain after sending me two motors that don't hold coolant, he sent another motor with totally different porting (mild vs. the large street port that I paid for).
Hopefully I can get more explaination than some childish reply accusing me of wrong doing or posting pictures of some other junk parts.

I need serious help, first of all: I tried to use a t-shirt as an air filter, not smart, i'm aware...flame away
secondly, i'm screwed! I noticed at first my secondary went, I could only hit 0psi in the freeway, then the primary went, it makes a whistling sound went they *should* spool
anyways, I drove my cripled *** car home and now I'm confused, I just did a whole lot of work to the engine, and now this
by the way, I did this because i had a coolant leak, had already removed the airbox and needed to drive it home, I wasn't trying to use the t-shirts as a performance thing, just a temp-fix
so here's my thought path: could they get past the compressor wheels? what would happen if they got tangled in the compressor wheels, what type of symptoms? secondly, the turbos spool when i rev, just when there's a load on the engine it makes the whistling sound, so does that mean they are stuck in the intercooler or the butterfly valve?
i'm so pissed...where should I start? the pieces of t-shirt were no bigger than the end of the airfilter and they were tie-wrapped around
please help guys

88fc3sw/HX83, I'm not trying to be politically correct, because this forum is far from that, but what you quoted from Corky bothers me.
You and him, must belong to MENSA or have some very high IQ. You both must be talented and/or gifted too.
I guess you and him are the most prefect human beings, no faults or blemishes in your body or life.
If you both are married or you have a significant other and have kids, I hope they don't become PERFECT ******** like you both are.
There are no words to express, what kind of person you are.
You just showed everyone here your intelligence.
If you have any shread of decency, you would appologize for that stupid qoute, but I think I'm asking to much from you.
You don't know, how many forum members have a brother or a sister, a relative or a friend with special needs, that you must have offended.
The ones that didn't take any offense fine, but I'm sure it did not sit well here.

Hey Guys -
Those badmouthing 93blackFD, I agree, that makes him look like he has no idea what he's doing. You've succeeded here.
However, 93BlackFD received a warranteed engine from Pineapple, that they are not standing behind. He took care to break it in properly and the car ran FINE for 1,500 miles.
What to question here is not 93blackFD's mechanical knowledge, nor Pineapple's craftsmanship. We are questioning why a "reputable business" won't stand behind a product they issued a warranty on.
$4,800 dollars is a lot for an engine, and their isn't evidence if negligence on 93BlackFD's part. The burden then goes to pineapple. I'm not saying it was bad crafstmanship, accidents happen. However, pineapples warranty "should" cover these accidents. If it doesn't, it's just a marketing ploy.
My 2 cc's.

Sometimes people lie about stuff that doesn't really matter (t-shirt air filter). Unfortunately that REALLY makes you wonder about everything else they say. Are they lying?
Any type of investigator, laywer, judge and/or jury member will know what I'm talking about. It is called credibility, now I'm still not saying that you did or didn't get a bad motor, the problem is you LIED about the t-shirt incident to us and that makes other things you say harder to believe. I'm trying to understand if you just think we are stupid or YOU forgot what you said. The truth usually stays substantially consistant but lies tend to change over time.
Why the hell do people pour oil down the oil filter base? What a freaking waste of time. Pull the plugs and the EGI fuse and crank it over until you get some oil pressure. It doesn't really take that long. There is NO WAY filling the small amount of oil line via the oil filter base will fill all the oil cooler lines, turbo oil lines, oil filter and oil cooler, especially if it is cold. I guess some people feel that if you do some wacky procedure then that will make things better? Kinda like girls brushing thier hair 100 times every night?

Not to defend 93BlackFD, but I believe he is not denying the fact that he used a t-shirt as an air filter.
What he is saying is that he used a t-shirt on another motor, not the Pineapple motor.
However, the use of a t-shirt does indicate that he did not quite grasp what an intake does - it sucks. But then again, maybe he just didn't think it through which could have happened to many people.

"and the air filter issue was an issue with another party cranking the car without warning"
Sounds much different to me. I'd say he was trying to imply it was an accident not a planned act.
I'm not picking on the bad planning of using a t-shirt as an air filter, I'm picking on what I perceive as lying about it after the fact. I really don't see how anyone could read what he said otherwise.

Regardless of 93B's previous mechanical screwups, atleast the guy is taking the initiative to rebuild his own engine this time. That's more than I can say for a good section of people invading the forum with pure CRAP.
Also regardless of who's fault the Pineapple engine is, 93B owns the core. Pineapple has not returned the core - but at the same time I do not know how much pursuing 93B has done on this issue.

I have a Pineapple Stage 3 motor. I've Been driveing it for over a year now and the odometer was at 11k before, now its at 28k. Don't know what that equates to as I have 4:30 gears and 245/50/16's in the rear. The motor has always pulled strong, with no problems period. In fact the motor sat for about 6 months before it was ready to run, and it still started on the first try. A recent compression check showed perfect compression in both rotors. Havn't dyno'd it yet but I will soon.
You know pumping out as many motors as Rob does, there's bound to be a couple of bad apples. Its really too bad that this hasn't been a pleasent experience for the parties involved, but bieng in this bussiness myself, I can fully understand that these things do in fact happen. I've had oil burning problems related to the turbo's since It's been running, and Rob has been nothing but helpfull and offered to take care of everything if it turned out to be the motor.
just wanted to share my story!
