Alternator rebuild time?

I hope this is an easy one.

I've not had my car out for a good while, (over a year), been running it here and there over the last few months.

Have dealt with the no start problem, which the Pettit relay did not fix.

There was a thread of a guy with the same problem who took his car to a shop, but I never got feedback.

Yesterday I took it out for about a half hour drive. On the way back home after dark, I noticed the CHARGE light, and both the red lights at the top of the oil press, and temp lights were coming on as I slowed and stopped. If I reved it, they would go off.

I checked my PFC, and noted the voltage was 11.3, and if reved it up to 3k and above, the voltage would peak at 11.6-7. Also the charge lights and two warning lights at the top of the oil and temp idiot gauges would go off like I mentioned above.

Does this sound as simple as an alternator rebuild?

Thanks in advance to all the forum electrical mechanics.

This morning I though I'd take it and have the alternator hooked up to a tester, and the same charge light was on. As I pulled out, it went off. I checked my PFC, and voltage was back up to 13.7 and such.

Voltage regulator?? Testing at this point may not show anything.

Anybody?

sounds like the alternator but it could just be a bad connection at the charge post off the alternator(the large 12mm ring terminal on top of the alt). if the connections are all solid i would send it off to be rebuilt or buy a reman/new one. the regulator is internal in the alternator so it will likely be replaced or reconditioned when they do the rebuild, at least it always should be or it's not truly being rebuilt.
