Which alternator to buy?

I'm pretty sure that my alternator has just crapped out on me since I have the normal battery/oil/coolant/exhaust lights constantly on and my battery not getting charged. I see that I can get a USA Industries Alternator for about $100 + shipping, what's the difference between this one and, let's say, the aftermarket version for around $300 ?

Doesn't seem like too much trouble changing the unit myself, but will any of the RX-7 specific alternators fit without having to modify anything in any way?

I would stick with stock alternator if you don't need the extra ampage with say, audio system, etc. You can buy a rebuilt OEM (don't come brand new anymore) direct from Ray @ Malloy Mazda or you can send your core unit to Gotham Racing for $165 and they will do a basic rebuild (doesn't include if your alternator needs extra replacement parts) plus polish or ceramic-coat it.

But why would I spend $165 + shipping to rebuild an old alternator if I can get a new one for less cash?

Did I mention I live in Norway? :p .. so shipping something overseas to get it rebuilt is out of the question
