Alternator

What usually goes bad in an alternator that would require it to be replaced? I'm thinking about rebuilding my alternator and just wondering what all I would need to replace with new parts. TIA.

RockAuto and wrong alternator

Hi all,
Thanks for all the recommendations.
Just wanted to mention that some posts talked about the customer needing more knowledge, supporting local businesses etc.
I totally agree with supporting local businesses. Sadly, people get old and retire and no one replaces them.
But, cannot agree with customers needing more knowledge before ordering a product.
The onus of responsibility lies with the retailer who should never state a product will fit unless absolutely sure. Logic and common sense.
I would never say a product will fit unless absolutely sure. That is called honesty, ethics, responsibility.
Anyway, I will look for alternatives in the future.

I think you've accidentally replied to the wrong thread/conversation. The previous post in this thread was from 2006.
