Alternate Gasket for UIM?

Ok, I have this in a different post but the subject line is a bit misleading...

I am trying to figure out a way to get my car back together by using some other alternate gasket other than the mazda gasket...

Here's the photo of the gasket I am trying to replace...I have the mazda one on order but want to finish putting the UIM, TB, and everything else back on this weekend...do you know if that gasket can be installed with the UIM already installed? I know it's kinda tight between the UIM and the firewall but is it possible?

Do you plan on putting a block off plate there? If so i've used a cork gasket sheet on all of mine. Other then that you should use the liquid gasket.

No, not blocking off that spot...I just want to replace the gasket...I have one ordered but don't want to wait till next wednesday to get it...I just went out and bought the liquid gasket...is this stuff pretty decent? I am reading the directions and it says not to torque down on it where the stuff gets squeezed out the side...what does that mean? how much should I tighten it down?

Also, what are the recommended torq values for attaching everythihg back to the UIM?

thanks

THAT is the EGR valve and you can re place it with the UIM in place. the torque is 8 foot lbs. why not make a thin blocking plate and put the valve on that .YOU need a high temp gasket because exhaust goes through it .

Okay, explain to me how that is the EGR if the EGR is on the lower intake manifold?

I think that's where the throttle position sensor goes. If you want a quick gasket, use card board. That's essentially what the stock gasket is.

Okay, after further inspection of my car, that thing on the back of the UIM is NOT the throttle position sensor, it is the Idle Control Valve.

give this man a silver dollar! j/k i was just wondering, with all the parts that it was being called, how long it would be before someone got it. also i just posted this but does anyone know if it can be blocked off and what problems or benefits would come from it?

The idle control valve is what the computer uses to determine how to control idle....you know when you disconnect your battery and reset your computer, how it idles up and down and up and down...that's the idle control valve "searching" for idle.

No benefits from blocking it off...maybe more space under the UIM, but that's it.

Ended up using liquid gasket and it's working fine...I did order the metal gasket for it though so I will swap it out the next time it's under there...
