Almost Bought 93 FD Auto

I almost bought a FD but it was a AUTO. This car could not lay any rubber and felt to be slower than my wifes accord with a V6 Vtec and a Auto. Is this just a Auto FD...? Or is there somthing wrong with this car I test drove? I watched this car go from $11k down to $7k now. I was thinking about it for $7k but just could not do it. It was just so gutless. I have a TII and thought maybe it would be about as fast as that was when it was stock but it was not even close. So what do you guys think somthing wrong ot typical auto FD?

Something was wrong. I had many many people ride in my car and say it felt to be the same speed as a manual. Some people even said it was quicker once it was rolling.

I actually test drove an auto before I purchased mine. I thought it felt pretty quick. I chirped the tires getting out a light at WOT. imo the "shove" seemed to hold more consistently because it was an auto (no lost of boost in shift interval). Anyways, it felt similar to manual but not quite.

good thing, cause one thing we don't need around here is more regret from auto owners. my single turbo auto runs 12s all day long and would smoke most of these 5 speed nay sayers. as someone on the other forum told me once...don't let the door hit ya in the *** on the way out!

Sweet weaklink my TII runs 12s all day long to. I plan on high 11s next year. For a Turbo I am running a BNR stage 3. Anyway I did not mean to insult you or anyone, I was just wondering if it was somthing wrong with the car or if it was just cuz of the Auto Tranny. I looked up what road and track got with a Auto FD and they got a 14.5 1/4 with a 6 sec 0-60 which is not bad. I can tell you however the car I drove was far from hitting that mark. Anyway please do not take offense.

sorry there are just so many auto haters on this forum who don't have a clue what they are talking about. sorry to be so harsh. obviously you are a nice guy and I feel like a total dipshit now. thanks for the reply, I am just used to the typical ******* responses around here. Worse on the other forum. So bad over there I was ready to sell the seven and get a vette or viper. There must have been something wrong with that auto. Even with a SMIC, PFC, intake and catback I ran a 13.6. Now I have an apex rx6 with all the goodies and more. Still it has cost me about 2X as much as it would have to mod a 5 speed. good luck to you brother, have fun, be safe.

A good running auto FD isn't that much different than a 5 speed, once you are over the initial 'launch' differences the auto is pretty much tit for tat with the manual car.

My car has only minimal mods and will smoke the tires in first and second gear, once the lag is overcome. I suspect the car you drove had some issues, most likely a broken coupler from the turbos to the manifold.

I aint no auto hater! I drove an auto FD once, but it had SERIOUS issues. Id really like to drive another one that is healthier. I sometimes wish mine was an auto.
