It Is Alive!

Oh God....after over two years my baby is purring like a contented ******* kitten again!

I put it all back together, checked and double checked EVERYTHING and then pulled the fuel pump fuse, turned it over until oil pressure built, put the fuse back in and....it fired up on about the 3rd revolution! Words simply fail me......it is just one of those days that I will always remember.
I've just been out sitting in it, letting it purr. I let it run for over an hour, no leaks, no codes, no problems.
I forgot how much I love the stereo in it.....it is SO bad-***, so ******* powerful. I've been jamming to some Korn and 50 Cent and Joan Jett and Chevelle....my ears are damned near BLEEDING!

I can't wait to take it out on its "maiden voyage", so to speak.

You know what is freaky? (Yeah, I am just ******' ramblin' here 'cuz I am SO ******* happy!)
I forgot how low the car sits to the ground. I mean, it has been on jackstands for two years now, with its nose up in the air, and.......****! These things sit LOW!

Oh man.......I am going to fire up a Cuban and drink about 10 Crown and Cokes now....what a GREAT feeling!

Great job on finishing everything up, 2 years on jackstands is defifnitely a lot of patience. BTW, nice job on a neat and clean engine bay.

just dont take it out for the "maiden voyage" after the 10 crown and cokes.

Rock on! I don't know if I'd blast Joan Jett real loud, but between you and me, a little Joan Jett every now and then is alright in my book. Enjoy your car, take care of her.

And ladies and gentlemen, THIS is why we love our FD's. A man will toil for 2 years just to hear his engine purr and it's all worth it.

Good job man! It's good to hear people posting positive stories!

Thanks, guys.

The Cuban was great, the Crown was good (only 3) and I am STILL just stoked!

I've got to say thanks to Chris Rogers (Mr. rx7 tt) for building the engine and to all those that offered advice and encouragement, and to those that helped provide the parts to finish the beast up (Ramy....man, what can I say! YOU pointed me to a wealth of information!) Another big thank you to Ray Crowe and Malloy Mazda, and to John Beach at Davis Moore Mazda in Wichita.

The forum is a GREAT place, with some GREAT people. Our little community is blessed, really.

Thumbs up

Congrats Baja.

You'll have to meet up with us at Topeka this spring/summer once you have the engine broken in a bit:

http://hpt.com//store/catalog/road_warriors.php

I'll be out there for the Wednesday nights SRT/DPE Road Warriors events instructing (if I can). My back is still not healed enough for me to drive so I'll have to see how instructing will work out. I may be crawling out of a car after one session begging for no more.

If not, you'll have to take a trip up the KC area sometime. Congrats again!

I'll be starting mine up soon after about a year off the road. I liked the tip about building oil pressure before firing it up; do you have any other tips like that to ensure success?

Congrats!

Congrats!
I really took my time and COMPLETELY filled the cooling system. Leave the throttle body coolant line off and it makes things MUCH easier. Very little 'burping' required this way.
I got the full 2.5 gallons of coolant in pretty easily this way. I also made double-checks to my double checks on everything, and during the last double-check I noticed one of my turbo actuator lines was JUST touching the drive belt, so I double-zip-tied it back.

Good luck with yours!
