Airpump failure
Anyone strip ever strip down the air pump. Failed emissions yesterday. When I checked I realised that the clutch is not engaging on the air pump at any rev so that could explain it. I was thinking of pulling it out and stripping it down see whats happenig with it. Any help appreciated

Havent checked anything yet, girlfriend took car in for mot test and I just took a quick look to see what was happinin with the pump. Might take a look at it this evening. Probably need to give the car a bit of a service anyway so i'll spend a bit of time on it then. Just hope I havent done any damage to the cat,

Seriously doubt it's the airpump - more likely the wiring to the airpump itself. The insulation on the wiring gets brittle, and the bare wire can easily short to ground and pop the airpump fuse. BTW, the air pump and AC share a fuse - I think the fuse is actually labeled for the AC.
A failing air pump usually is VERY noisy, then eventually locks up.
Check the simple stuff first before trying to take it apart. If it is bad, good used air pumps are a dime a dozen.
