Airpump Bypass Pump "mooo"

Hey i was finished my install for my aftermarket intake... pipping fitted perfectly...

I am still battling the mr.moo sound from the Airpump bypass pump...

I have covered it with a few different things now and some stuff has worked nicely but the pressure that is being released by this pump usually blows the caps off.....Now I have always put some holes in it to let the air out....I was just wondering if it was ok to just block it off completely just like in the pick attached

I saw this pic of an intake set up and it appeared as if this persons set up has that pump/valve totally blocked off?
What should i use to block this off and is blocking this pump/valve ok to do so?
I have never really tried to block it off completely because of "negative" backpressure theory... and I am not to sure where this valve/pump connects too.?

Any suggestions welcome pleas!

I have heard things like use chair stopper or something ....??? But this would block it off completely...where would the air go if i did block it off?

A lot of people use those little chair leg cup things (the little plugs on the bottom of the chair legs). but most of what I have read about this people do punch holes in these chair leg caps. Did you try to put a clamp on the plugs that you installed?

I don't like the moo thing either but I don't know what to do with it, I'm afraid to plug it completely because I'm not sure of the impacts/drawbacks.

What about those little 'breather' filters. looks like an average cone shaped K&N but about 20 times smaller, anyone try those?

a breather filter alone will not work. i tried this in the past. if you use just a breather filter, #1 you have to pack it with some type of foam padding to further muffle the sound and #2 it's hard to keep the thing on their because the bypass surge kept making it shoot off.

i think the best thing to do is remove the air-pump haha. unless you have your stock cat of course, or if you have to pass emissions testing.

if you must silence the air-pump the best way would be something like this (photoshop ftw!!!). use a small section of hose. attach a breather filter to one end. take a copper pipe cap and drill a 1/4" hole in the center, then slide the cap into the center of the tube. connect the other end to the airpump bypass pipe and attach hose clamps.

i bet that your thermostat dosent open...pull it out and put a torch to it see if it opens up as it heats up usually it opens up 85-90C...other wise get a nice big radiator and fans that will keep your temp down...and i would say not to drive your car if the temp reaches 108 pull over let it cool down...

Where is the thermostat located on the car?

Chair leg caps are the way to go. I think you need either a 3/4" or 7/8" cap, you can get them for a few bucks at Wal-Mart. Drill a few holes in the cap, 3-4 is fine, then put it on the metal pipe and clamp it down. Done.

You don't need a filter on this fitting, as it only blows out excess air, never sucks in.

This will take ALL the moo out, it's clean and easy to do, and it's dirt cheap. Can't go wrong.

^^^Nothing will get into the pump with the holes being open?

That diagram looks very interesting and quite simple with the copper plug and a breather, the onlu issue I have is where to find a copper plug, would a local hardware store cary something like that?

whell the air pump is blowing air.. so nothing really would get in there.... just make a special attach ment to the pipe and put it there so it goes straight back to the air filter, or take out the airpump.. or do the chair leg thing

I got another idea, what do you think: if you take a smaller diameter chair leg thing drill some holes in it and put it inside the original hose that's supposed to be there and attach it back to the intake pipe so it will work sort of like a restrictor pill. Will this still make the moo noise?

I use a hose with a brass nosel fitting on the end....with some scotch scouring pad stuffed in it. Works like a charm!
