Air intake questions: newb stuff

What are all the lines that connect to the stock air box (besides the main intake lines.. duh)?

Some intake kits necessitate deletion/blocking these lines, right?

The apex-i kit, for example has all the fittings for those lines. So what are they? What do they do? What's the advantages/disadvantages of deleting/blocking them off?

NOTE: I'm sure I could figure this all out myself if I had the Shop Manual... but I can't find any working links for it.

Thanks

First off, FSM (Factory Service Manuals) can be downloaded from here:

https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-gen-archives-73/tech-manual-directory-614824/

Next, the hoses that connecto the stock airbox:

2x - Intake hoses
Airpump intake
ACV Relief (aka hose to no where)
ABV Relief
CRV Relief

Thanks Mahjik.

Is there any reason I can't just delete these lines?

The ABV (BOV) and the CRV (looks just like the ABV) can't be deleted, but they can be vented to the engine bay instead of the airbox. I have done that but have read about some folks concerns with this and feel that maybe there should be a filter on the hoses. Personally, I'm happy without a filter.

The ACV can be vented as well, but will give you an annoying "moo" sound under the hood. Do a search for "moo" and you will find lots of information. The consensus seems to be to cap that line with a 7/8" chair leg cap with a few holes drilled into it. I've done this and it works fine.

Adam-c's "cheap bastard" intake mod is a good one to look at. If my FD had had the original airbox in it when I bought it, I think I would have seriously considered it.

If you decide you want a Greddy Airinx Intake, I have a very good one I'll sell you, just send a PM.
