air filter : round straight or tapered?
Greetings,
I might be making too much of a big deal with this, but I was looking at 2 K&N filters (R-1380 and RU-0840) and don't know which to choose.
One of them is a round straight design(4 ½in X 5) and the other is round tapered. The tapered one is 1in smaller but the bottom is 1in wider (5½X4½ X 4).
i was thinking, the tapered design would offer better airflow since the air would kind of "slide" on the filter from top to bottom and it would create better airflow, but then again it's only 4in long as apposed to 5in. Tapered design would also make the top end weight less, hense creating less stress on the bottom part and the flange.
The round straight design being 1in longer might offer a larger filtering area. Not su sure about that though.
As I said, maybe I'm just making too much of a big deal with this since our turbos are rather small and I don't think it makes that much of a difference at this point.
What do you guys think? What are you using?
