Think of how many old 70's Toyotas or Datsuns you see on the road. There are plenty out there. When was the last time you saw a Pinto or a Vega (that was moving).

The Japanese cars have been ahead of the American cars for a long time, and they still are.

you have a fan mod, you should be fine with a new oem radiator! Just get a aftermarked temp guage.

i disagree when you say that jap cars have been ahead of the american cars for a very long time. I agree that they are ahead now(and i mean way ahead) but just think of all the old classic american cars that are on the road (some on original engine)

which engine was that? #3? ha

anyway, PWR is my recommendation....pricey, but very nice piece and install was cake....the stock radiator is an incredible POS
Actually yes it was.

Good guess.

And I was going over 100MPH.

I don't think people study their temp gauge all the time at those speeds............

If your stock gauge wasn't linearized then that much movement means something was seriously wrong. If it was fixed by upgrading your radiator, then that something may have been your radiator, however it wasn't because it was stock. Maybe the fins were all bent and it wasn't flowing air, or maybe the coolant passeges were clogged...something was not right with it.

when i had my stock radiator and ast my stock temp guage would show ~ 1/3 past the "c" mark and creep to almost halfway after a full throttle run. after installing a koyo and pettit ast, the guage would rarely get past the "c" line which is about 85-90 according to the pfc commander. i wish i would have had the pfc or an accurate temp guage to show exact before and after temps, i think the difference would have been substantial. i say get the radiator and ast first.

the point is it will not break or crack.

You know, baby croc's are like puppy's, they're cute when they're young, then they grow up, or in your case, eat they're owners!.
Honestly, get something more normal, like a giraffe or something!

Name three, hell, name any. I see a far greater percentage of 15+ year old hondas/toyotas than I do American cars, which is pretty sad, considering the original sale volumes.....

The Japenese have made higher quality cars than American cars for at least 25 years. The gap was especially large in the 80s. Over the years, American cars have improved, but they;re still not there in driving ability or build quality (in general). Ironically, the best american cars I've driven in the last few years (rentals) were all Oldsmobiles -- which GM dumped!
