CA Aftermarket Gauges, Turbo, water temp

Hey guys, I know theres a few mod lists around here. But, I was wondering. Is it necessary to have a air/fuel guage or EGT gauge? I figured, if the boost is at stock levels, the air/fuel would stay the same, and if the boost is too high, there would be too much air? I am pulling information I learned out of my brain so excuse me if I am wrong. I planned on buying the Turbo, EGT, and water temp gauges, but if I could cut those costs than it would be perfect. DEFI FTW

If your on the stock ECU at stock boost levels just get a boost and water temp gauge. Boost gauge to monitor your turbos and sequential system, temp because the stock gauge is not linear and essentially worthless.
You don't need EGT or A/F.

stay away from autometer water temp (and oil pressure) as they are not reliable, the sending units don't last long.

Also to keep cost down you can look at the specials on the TEIN website. gauges are marked down 40-50%.

I've not had any problems with mine yet; however, I keep an eye on it constantly. The moment it putters out, I'll swap it. Thanks for the info!

FWIW, I personally like a column mounted boost gauge. It keeps it in line of sight with the tach.

Old picture but should give you an idea....

If you want some really nice gauges that looks stock, get VDO from egauges.com

Accurate, well made and inexpensive. I just mounted mine in the center speaker location. I'm happy with that.

If you decide to go that route let me know because I have some tips on the install. The VDOs are a little long and to get them to fit in the tri-power center gauge pod is a little tricky.

Here is one instruction from David for the water temp:

http://www.davidgeesaman.com/rx7/Wat...%20Install.pdf

As far as sensor location is concerned (WTemp) you have a few options (and if you search a bit you'll see people have different point of view TB, WP housing, rad hoses etc...).

Good luck, I am installing mine.
