i just got an rx7 store (kg parts) secondary fuel rail with 1600 cc inj and an aeromotive FPR from a forum member. I'm planning on running my stock primary rail/inj.

right now everything has AN fittings, except of course the primary rail. For cost/time reasons i was thinking about switching everything over to brass hose barbs or banjo bolts. my questions are:

1. the banjo bolt adapter..what size am i looking for? and can it be purchased at autozone or napa etc?
2. do the aeromotive FPR's have a FPD built in? i would like to eliminate my stock FPD so i dont have a fire, but many people feel strongly that its needed. others say no...
3. if i chose to eliminate the FPD can the factory rail be tapped for a hose barb? or can a banjo bolt be used? if it can be tapped, will 3/8 tap work? if a banjo bolt works what size will i need and can i get that from a local parts store?

 

ok i read directly from aeromotive that i won't need a FPD and i saw on Banzai racings site that a 1/4" tap will work for the primary rail with a 5/16" hose barb.

so that answers some questions.

Now all i really need to know is, can i connect the other side of the fuel rail to the secondary rail using a similar method with a tap and hose barb? or can i find a banjo adapter locally for the secondary rail?

 

It is possible to order the rail with the right adapter form KG so that the stock banjo bolt will work. If you didn't get it with the rail, call Keith and order it. And no you don't need the FD. I eliminated them for customers who don't want to spend $150+ on a new one.

 

Well i got the rail used so it didn't come with the banjo bolt. I want to put the system in this weekend so i was hoping to get the adapter locally if possible. Or find an alternative such as tapping the rail. Which i'll be doing anyways.

 

Keith could order you one. Or just get some an fittings and tap the rail and put them in. Take some ss line and good to go.

 

Just tap it with 1/4 or 5/16 NPT and buy an adaptor to AN. Only problem is you will need 45 or 90 degree turn if you are still using the oil injectors.

or i could tap it, put a brass 45 or 90 in there and then a hose barb and use goodyear fuel injection hose. AN and stainless lines are nice, but they get pricey. fuel hose is simple, easy to work with, and doesnt rub holes in everything it vibrates against.

 

Fuel injection hose is fine. Make sure you use fuel injection clamps. Standard clamps tend to cut into the hose.

Funny you said that because that's exactly what I did when I was pressed for time... NPT to barb with Goodyear FI hose and FI clamps. Worked great and holds up...

 

that looks good, where did you get the angle barbs? and what size did you use to tap the primary rail? 1/4" npt?

 

I believe I used 1/4 NPT to 5/16 hose barb. I would go to the local hardware store first...if you can't find them you can order from this place.
