after market seats for an FD that will accomodate a 400 lb man?

[ J/k, more like 200lbs. ]

I need new seats for my FD and the last time I sat in racing seats it wasn't very fitting. So I'm looking for some rather roomier racing seats for my FD.

Thanks in advance,
Matt

Sparco makes a few types of racing seats that may be able to fit for you check it out.http://www.sparcousa.com/seats_street.asp

I was going to say that you should probably worry more about suspension upgrades than seats if you are a 400lb man. And maybe a rack for the back of the car, to haul the hover-round/rascal on.

On the topic of aftermarket seats.. Would aftermarket seats for the FD use the universal sliders/brackets??

The sparco Evo2 seats are made for heavy set people. Although the only heavy set race drivers I have ever seen are NASCAR drivers

I would stick with stock seats. Wider "racing" seats won't fit in an FD. Most of the Sparco seats will not fit, and you will need to fabricate seat rails as well.

><

I'm 230lbs, my fd seats fit like a glove, wouldnt see why anyone w/ less weight than me would need bigger seats(I am kinda tightly packed together tho).

The sparco Evo seats are way too big for the FD imo, my buddy tried putting one in his 1986 corolla(no I'm not an Initial D freak, I bought my car/had it for a year before I even heard of this cartoon), needless to say he ended up having to take off his interior door panel to make it fit. I've sat in corolla's before, and they seem to have more room in the drivers side than our FD's. Anyways Goodluck!

Oh no, I'm not getting them for comfort, I want to clean up my interior a bit and my seats are in REALLY bad condition. I asked for price quotes from a few places and the best I could get was $650 per seat :O :O :O

anyone know if these will fit?

How much custom fabrication is required?

Haha, funny. I was just installing my JDM rear seats earlier and I noticed the sticker by the side of the door, max capacity is 366 lbs.

i agree that the recovering or finding new stockers would be your best bet. you can find seats that you'll fit in, and you can find seats that fit in the FD, but i'm not sure you'll be able to find one that can do both.

case in point: i'm about 5'8" and weight around 180, and one of the few seats i liked the feel of was the recaro SPG. it was the tiniest bit tight, but i thought i could probably deal with it. a guy selling a set of these not too long ago with the application specific FD brackets said the seats fit in the car but the shoulder wings would touch the windows barely when closed. recaro does make an SPG XL that's supposed to be 35mm wider. it would probably fit me perfectly, but might be 35mm too wide to fit in the FD.

The Steve Irwin Special Edition with Crocodile Skin covers are the best!

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Check here. For about $600, you can recover both seats:

http://www.leatherseats.com/

They did a groupbuy on the foruma while back:

I'd try a Kirkey road race seat.

They are available in several width measurements, and are comparitively narrower overall than some of fiberglass (sparco type) seats. They also bolt right up to the stock seat rails.

Make sure you use a seat back brace attached to your roll bar.
