After market fuel pump rewire

I want to do a mod, in order to skip the connector and wire the fuel pump directly. I'm using an AEM fuel pump that draws a lot of power. I want to wire it directly using bigger cables, and skip the connector ( Because it gets warm after some time ). I want to drill 2 holes in the gas tank hanger cover ( Image attached ) and put to cables through. I want to know how to seal them. I've heard you should not use silicone, because it melts. Keep in mind this is a "temporary" fix until I get a radium fuel hanger with pump

2 common options - the grommet style tends to weep after some time but the post style is an acceptable permanent solution (when installed appropriately).

That's a good friend of mine, kit is very solid and easy to install with quality parts.

I'm also using a post style on my FD. No problems with it so far.

^I'm literally using the same insulated post setup on my FD, so far zero fuel wicking or vapor stink after almost 6 months. Before this, I was using one of those ATL bulkhead glands discussed by a few of the posters above, with only partial success. It was fine for maybe a year, but eventually the fuel vapor & liquid managed to wick its way up the stranded wire UNDER its insulation (even if you're using fuel rated milspec Tefzel insulated wire - I did), and that fuel vapor/liquid find its way past the ATL gland seals. My $0.02 opinion is don't waste your time with the ATL or similar gland type seals.
