the early production ones (about 4 years ago) were a pain and had reliability problems, but I think the current ones are fine.

The AEM gauges are OK, not super big on them.

I'm a BIG fan of Innovate's gauges/widebands:

http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/x...cat=262&page=1

The DB-1 gauge with the LC-1 wideband is $229 retail, less than that street price. Good, clean looking gauge, solid electronics, nice 5v output to datalog with - just a winning combo.

you'd want your wideband further down the downpipe than the stock narrowband o2. say just before the cat would be ideal.

closer it is to the exhaust port the faster the sensor will die, but also reads more accurately.

PLX, innovate and techedge are the most reliable widebands IMO.

He put his on the mid pipe, just after the Down pipe, before the cat...

you might want to consider doing this, like "Karack" said, might not be as accurate, but would do good, for not taking the DP off...

if you do decide to go the mid pipe route, you could either ceramic coat it, or wrap it after you get the bung welded on..

i had aem in my rx8.. i have an innovate now... i like them because they have a larger range of A/f ratio.....

u can run the sensor in the o2 sensor spot but it will shorten your sensor life

I have the Innovative LC-1 with the gauge and I have to be honest. It's probably the best one I've used so far. It's got really linear reading. It also looks really cool and is bright enough to read in the dark or in the bright sun.

Also, my friend and I compared the datalogging capabilities, and the Innovative one is much simpler, lol.

I have the AEM one, and other than a wiring problem that is a result of my poor wiring abilities, it works just fine, I got it for 150 slightly used and couldn't pass up the deal. It is the newer model too.

Have AEM, can't complain. nice display, response time not horrible, not super great either though. Accuracy seems to be just fine.

so when i go to get the bung welded in the midpipe, it should be straight up correct or does it have to be at an angle

Great article, thanks for posting it. The Innovate comes out looking good, the AEM ok, and the PLX like poo. Too bad they couldnt have included the Techedge.

If you guys plan on running any type of leaded fuels (C16) stay away from the Innovate or any wideband that uses the bosche sensors. If not, you are fine with almost anything.

The sensor is the heart of a wideband, that is why some will cost $800 (NTK sensor) and some will cost $200 (bosche sensor).

Read up on the NTK L1H1/L2H2 sensor vs the bosche sensors to get a better understanding.

Here's another link too.
