AEM Water Injection - Low Buzzing
Hi all, seeking some help.
I have everything wired up and checked the connections but I’m getting what looks like two flashes and low buzzing from the pump with the light dimly lit.
Wanted to check if this is normal or if I’m in an error state.

Controller is brand new but was using an existing Devils Own pump.
When I hit the “test” button on the controller water does pump out from the line.
Please let me know thanks!

The status LED shouldn't be blinking. The resistance of that pump may be different from AEM's pump and it may be thinking it's not connected or something.
Regardless I don't think that's the way it should work. I don't know about using other pumps with AEM's controller.

Thanks Dale, I was wondering if that was the case too being a mixed/match of parts.
I gave AEM a call today and explained what the controller is doing to trouble shoot.
After speaking with them, sounds like it's doing what it's supposed to with the diagnostic mode on (low buzzing from pump) to detect shorts.
Faded green light holds steady with increasing brightness based on pump flow.
Water does flow with the "Test" button, so guessing all's ok unless I see red lights.
At startup, does your controller blink green a couple times before holding at a dimly lit green?

I have the older version of the controller and it's up under my dash. I haven't looked at it (or needed to look at it) in ages .

It sounds like everything is working properly. My AEM controller had a low buzz with the AEM pump and the controller had a dimly lit flow light on all the time and got brighter with flow as it's supposed to.

FYI for anyone doing a fresh or re-doing install for their water lines, these two fitting kits worked swimmingly:
Great when cleanly hiding the lines and routing in tight spaces needing tighter angles.
Used the shutoff valve before the opt. water filter for easier maintenance and several of the *90 angles for routing to ease line stress.
Bonus, 1/4" is the same type of fittings you'd use for home reverse osmosis water filters, so multi use if you're a homeowner!

I'd be very reluctant to use plastic fittings anywhere in the engine compartment of an FD. However, this POM plastic does have a melting point ~325F, so as long as the fittings are nowhere near the turbos, it "might" be OK. But even with that melting point, it's likely to creep or stress relax at temperatures significantly lower than the melting point leading to leaks or actual failure.
Using them on a water injection system would probably be OK, since a failure would not cause an engine meltdown.
