AEM Ignition Kits....for those who's have failed

it seems that the majority of the aem ignition kits are failing badly. I was told it was a bad batch but a few others from the new batch had similar problems...so back the whole bunch went to aem. my question is for those who have been through this....

did you get your kit back working when you sent it in for repairs? I have had four in the car now and no luck at all. either doesnt run, stops running, or blows fuses over and over. not safe to drive at all. dangerous at speed on the highway....it just shuts off and will not restart til the car is shut off.

were you able to get a refund?

jason

PM elusive7 and get him to post his experience in here. He got one back from AEM and it is working fine. Unfortunately, I do not remember all the details though.

well one back is cool...considering im on my fourth at the moment I don't think getting another one is the option I want.

I am told that they are putting everyone on hold and not answering the calls. anyone else experience this?

don't buy their crap right now....that is my only piece of advice.

thanks jason.

It looks like the best thing for me to do is go with the msd. If anyone has luck obtaining a refund on the aem units, please let me know.

Regardless, I am curious as to how many have worked out well and how many people have had theirs fail as well.

I've had mine going for about a little over a month now. It was bought about 2 months ago. It has cut out on me three times in as many days (back to back to back) since it's been running and that was about a week and a half (500 miles) into it running. Similar issues to what others have had in that it would just quit and wouldn't restart unless I killed the ignition completely. Fortunately for me I don't have PS anyway. The only danger is if you're on a turn and shut it down. So long as you don't panic you can safely recover. Theoretically you can keep it in gear, shut it down and turn the key back to on without actually starting it. It should fire right up (like push starting it) I haven't had any issues since, but I'm keeping close tabs on it.

It's funny as they don't post anything relating to this on their forums either. My take is they don't have any clue to what the problem could be and are trying to save face and not look stupid for not knowing, when in fact they are looking worse for not saying anything at all.

I've had mine since july, it cut out once on me when i was driving at 60mph kinda scary. Then it cut out on me again when i was backing out and hasn't worked since. I'm waiting on my replacement from rx7store which i should get next week. The box now is dead, it won't even produce a spark, but the stock ignition is working so i can atleast drive it, just very little boost and driving easy.

its going to start to look like lawsuit time.....honestly...if someone gets hurt they are going to have huge problems on their hands. This is completely rediculous.

yeah...mine did 500 miles on the first unit...then it started cutting out randomly and then wouldnt run at all. the car has been sitting for two months getting this **** sorted out. Im fed up.

I've never had a problem with my HKS Twin Power or Jacobs ignition. Sounds like a pretty poorly executed and tested product with so many complaints and problems. Hope everyone gets them sorted out.

Great. I have one, but haven't been able to get the car running on it yet. I was going to go with M&W or autronic, but skimped out and bought this.... looks like I'm gonna regret it.
