ACV Solenoids vacuum routing
I need to reinstall my ACV and airpump temporarily. I am only adding the solenoids and not the whole rack.

I see the Switching solenoid (C) goes from the ACV switch to the solenoid then out to the back of the UIM.
However I am uncertain about the Relief 1 (B)
It goes from the ACV switch to the solenoid then????
Its been a LONG time and I do not remember, it just kinda disappears... can I tap this into the UIM as well??

From what I can see in the vacuum routing diagrams: if you just want airpump air to go directly to the cat through the split air pipe you don't need those vacuum solenoids and vacuum lines under UIM hooked up at all. All that is needed is for the switching valve to be closed and the split air solenoid to be open. To do that you just have to plug in the split air bypass solenoid and leave the rest of the solenoids unplugged. Here's my reasoning:
The actual switching valve in the ACV is a poppet valve that directs air pump air to either the exhaust ports (port air) or the cat (split ar). It is configured for split air by default. All the switching solenoid does is cut the vacuum signal to the switching valve, just like aftermarket EBC's cut pressure to the wastegate actuator. In the third pic I posted, look at the 1st diagram and 4th diagrams. The switching valve doesn't open without a vacuum signal, you can see the vacuum is cut in the 4th diagram by the switching solenoid. So if you leave the switching valve on the ACV vented (or possibly capped), it will direct air to the cat by default.
The split air solenoid valve (which is built into the ACV) also needs to be engaged, or at least that's what the service highlights document says. On the harness plug, one wire should be +12V and the other should be a ground signal that is normally triggered by the ECU to open the split air solenoid. Ground that wire open that solenoid valve whenever the engine is on. Now air should flow to the cat all the time. If you don't ground it, the ECU may not turn it on when you want it to, and air may not flow to the cat properly. Test all that though, I don't have an ACV in front of me.
The relief 1 valve is like a blowoff or charge relief valve for the air pump. It only runs when the airpump airflow is suddenly no longer required (airpump declutched). It worked a little differently on the 2nd gens because the pump was belt driven and always running.

Thanks for the help, I have been trying to study the service highlights bookfor the last 1-2days, its great literature!! Every RX7 owner should have one!!
One thing I was looking at was for idling, all the air injected is thru the port, which I am sure I would needed for the emissions test.
Its definatly a complex system, but it seems to me I would need the solenoids and vac lines for it to work properly, other wise it would see too much air or not enough... Given the way you described to wire it, always being open (split air). Two solenoids and a couple lines will not break the bank (space), the issue is I have is where the one VAC chamber is located under the UIM where the ACV is placed, that thing is huge and now need to find a place for that.... Ideas?? I should have the OEM bracket to mount it back outside the UIM, just need to find it....
BTW I have a spare solenoid rack, I found out that the two solenoids relief and switching get teed together to the same source on the uim, so I have that figured out now.
This sucks, its all because I have been too busy to get my car inspected/emissions (which would be exempt based on mileage), but since I elapsed 2yrs I need the emissions test.... all this could be easier if I went single turbo, lol!
